Hall needs to take some personal responsibility before worrying about a new contract.

Let’s not do this. The best players always unfairly take the brunt of the blame on bad teams. Hell we were making fun of Edmonton for this last year.

The team is not good outside Hall/Nico/Palmieri, that is management and cosching’s fault.

Give Kinky some work to get him ready to play EVERY SINGLE GAME THE REST OF THE WAY.

Bring up Lack to back him up.

CORY IS DONE.

Keith will be done after another two-three games of this **** too...you guys just don't get it, sure Cory sucks and has sucked for two years but right now it just flat out doesn't matter who's in net cause this team isn't even trying and is awful defensively. Or do we need another couple more games of Keith getting plastered like Ottawa and Toronto before we see it doesn't actually matter who's in net?

If the defense doesnt improve we could have Brodeur and hasek as a tandom and make each look bad.

Once we improve the d, then both goalies wont be getting lit up. With that said I'd still put my money on kk to at the very least help to get us back to .500, if not better. But the team in front of him has to step up and improve

I didn’t think it was likely before but I’m confident he will leave now. This team is terrible.
without question.. he will see the blue line and bolt .. they may even want to consider moving him now ... if he brings back a top flight defenseman.. i know he is a pure talent but if he can't be re signed he must be traded

amazes me that anyone can still defend schneider. millions of mothers have given birth and they weren't even pregnant since cory's last regular season win.

Pointing out the piss-poor play of the guys in front of him as a concurrent cause of our downward spiral isn't "defending Schneider."

Some (most?) people around here have a real hard time grasping the concept of mutual exclusivity, and when it does and doesn't apply.

Was Schneider an elite goalie? Yes
Did Schneider help us win a ton of games we shouldn't have in the past? Yes
Has the defense struggled in front of him recently? Yes

But this is also a guy that dating back to last year has had 16 straight regular-season starts result in 3+ goals or more. Given up 4+ in 9 of them. And we have lost every single game. We literally have 0 wins in his last 15 and soon to be 16 starts.

Enough with the excuses. Could he be getting more help? Absolutely. But the guy has the largest contract on the team. We have more money committed into him than anyone else. And he's playing like he doesn't belong in the NHL. When you pay a goalie $6 million a year, you're asking him to help MASK some of your defensive deficiencies. They didn't pay Schneider expecting him to be a product of the players in front of him.

He's hurting us. Time to really think about moving forward without him in the future. He doesn't appear like he's going to help this team going forward in their rebuild.

Effort is definitely a huge issue. No doubt. Talent level is terrible too though especially on the backend. You have a solid 2-3 if hes behind a stud (Vatanen), a washed up vet who makes tons of mistakes (Greene), a good #4 in Severson, a fringe guy whose first year in NA (yak), a bottom pair pp specialist (butcher), a bottom pair anchor (Lovejoy), a guy who has shown promise to be top 4 this season who is for some reason odd,man out (Mueller) and a kid who will likely top out at a solid #5 guy (santini). Not gonna cut it. And then you have no depth down the middle AT ALL. Frankly I didn't expect this to,be playoff, caliber before season but certainly not this mess.

I know some of our top guys aren’t scoring but it’s tough to get on the offense as of late when we’re giving up 5 goals every game.

I’m looking squarely at the defense here. Across the board in our own zone, everyone is a step behind or completely oblivious. Forwards, defense, goaltending. Everyone

It’s baffling to watch.

NJ needs to go back to a low event cover the front of the net and concede the outside system for the moment. Slow the game down and play defense first hockey. Sure they will lose those games but at this point an few one goal losses along the lines of 3-2 or 2-1 will allow them to rebuild their confidence and play with structure. Maybe even allow the goalies to start to get their treatment for their PTSD.

This season is ****ed imho. As early as it is, it just feels like there’s no coming back from this disaster. This is brutal hockey. At this point t, I’d just like to see them establish a somewhat cohesive game and lose with some dignity. They’re getting smoked in every game now. Totally off the rails.

Agreed. At this point, I'm no longer thinking Playoffs anymore.

But I just want SOME GODDAMN STRUCTURE, DISCIPLINE, AND SOLID PLAY BOTH OFFENSIVELY AND DEFENSIVELY FROM THIS DAMN TEAM!! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Zone exit and entry. Our transition game has been horrendous on this road trip, and it is costing us a ton of goals against. We can't string passes together from our end to their end. The only consistent way we get zone pressure is if we have an offensive zone faceoff and we win it.
Honestly, I haven't really noticed. I feel like we've had much worse. There have been games we literally couldn't string 3 passes in a row together. The fact that I didn't notice would make me suspect it's not THAT bad.

I have much more concern about our own zone coverage. We're running around like a bunch of sperm with no egg to ovulate. It's like there's no real plan, or that they have no idea who they're supposed to cover.

some people are definitely defending a goalie who hasnt made many big saves and has allowed a ton of softies since december of last year.

he is a huge part of the problem, even with how the team is playing in front of him

if he was playing like a vezina 6 million goalie then maybe this team could garner some confidence from that.

You're going to die on this Team Schneider train alone man. Enough is enough with the excuses.

I'm not defending him but I said that it is WAY more problematic to me that the team in front of him looks lost

we could have peak Marty in there tonight and it wouldn't matter, yet thats all most people here want to talk about

I think Cory has lost it....COMPLETELY..

I was _really_ hopeful that the surgery/injury thing was behind him and we'd see the goaltender we traded for and watched excel for several seasons; even despite my belief that he had holes in his game...

Right now, I'm ready to drop him from my fantasy squad (thanks for that 5ga on 21 shots man...) and think that he's truly not even going to be able to be an effective backup.

If we weren't such a horror show, I'd bring up MackBlack.

If you want Hall to be the captain, he needs to show it.

Yeah, he needs to win a Hart trophy while doubling his next closest teammate in points or something.

Hall has been trying all year, you can't expect him to deadlift 17 other guys every single night like he did last year.
