Change the penalty for calling an offside challenge to a penalty shot and not a power play. You will see teams stop calling it.

This league deserves both the Capitals and Blues to make the final and for the series to drag on for the rest of eternity since neither franchise is capable of winning a game that actually matters. And the game should be played at a neutral site just like the super bowl. Lets go with Arizona. Like Groundhog Day, every Cup clinching goal will be called back due to an offside challenge. Mother f***ers. I really hope Shero is doing work behind the scenes.

The fact that you can get a penalty for a failed challenge just shows how ridiculous the whole thing is. I mean how stupid and obnoxious is that? The challenge system is horse shit and everyone knows it, but the league needs to save face and not bail on it so quickly. It’s absolutely awful for the sport.

Nico and Mojo could have ended it in OT. Mojo twice. Bury the puck please.

I'm sick of the offside challenge, always hated it but it's cost us 2 points now.

We handed them both goals too with turnovers.

That was the chance to finally win in St Loser and they couldn't finish the gig.

They have to practice odd man rushes and also clearing the zone.
Weak at both.

Lost again because of a dumb rule and they gave St Loser over a minute to challenge.

But Nico or MoJo should have won it.

If you can't get a chance at 3 shooters (and we didn't) in the shootout, the goalie deserves more of the blame than anything.

And this isn't the first pathetic shootout that Kinkaid has had this year. It's the second in a row.

Kink was passive in the SO.
just hoping the puck would hit him.

how about challenging the shooter?

O and kinkaid sucks at the shootout. How’s lack?
Not sure.

His in-game goaltending over the last several seasons is quite a bit worse than Kinkaid's. Even though he was the highly regarded prospect with the higher ceiling of the two, but that's years ago now.

MoJo having a millimeter of his skate offside had what impact on the play?

None at all.

How many goals would Gretzky have called back if this dumb rule was in the books.

Have we ever benefited from this rule?

We played well enough to win, in fact we were going to win and the refs jobber us again.

It was a bad first period, but they responded well for the rest of the game.

It never should have gotten to the gimmick. We got jobbed.

Another "Jobbed" thing.

The NHL is turning into the WWE as the Refs are trying to make games with PRE-DETERMINED OUTCOMES.

I just have no idea wtf they were thinking when they approved the offside challenge. I mean how many times a game does a play like this occur? There are so many of these ultra close zone entries in every single game. What, it only matters if a goal is scored? It’s ridiculous. If you really want to get technical about it, you could literally scrutinize everything that comes afterward. Shots on goal, hits, etc. You have humans making these decisions on the fly. Their decision should be the end of it, whether it’s the correct call or not.

After last game, I’m benching Santini for Severson. Lovejoy was fine, Santini...wasn’t.
Agree.

But try convincing Hynes/Nasreddine this.

I don't necessarily think Santini needs to be benched, but he needs to be kept away from tough competition/top lines. He's been quite a bit worse than Lovejoy was in that role last year.

Since Lovejoy has been solid in this role (when he's played) and Santini was solid in that role last year, I think there's a great chance that Santini plays well when you bump him down by quite a bit. Maybe another pairing struggles a bit more than they have, if you swap out Greene and Sanini from playing top end minutes, but I don't see it being as bad as when this pairing is out there. I don't care if it's low-danger, I'm surprised a couple more fluke goals off skates or legs haven't been scored while they're out there. The game plan shouldn't be to sit in your end and just play defense against these top lines from the other team. If you do that enough, you'll be allowing goals off a skate or a shinpad, even when everyone was covering who they should have been and in position. Those kinds of things happen when you're in the D-zone for half a minute or more at a time, which is exactly how long these two tend to spend in the D-zone when they're out there on any given shift. I've never see a relative corsi as bad as Santini's over a 35+ game stretch. There's probably been a few, but that's abysmal.

Might be part sophomore slump, but a lot of it is he's not good enough to take this kind of workload, and Greene is no longer good enough for it.

I'm starting to think we're not that bad of a possession team, but it's just that we have arguably the most dominated top defense pairing in the league.
