As much as I like seeing Bratt get the 1st star, I can't help but wonder that if it wasn't for Dad's night and Merkley doing his thing, that Bratt would've been the 2nd Star and Blackwood the first.

Speaking of which, I think Bratt pulled a Brian Rolston after the signing of his name on the camera lens with a wink :

What does Dad night have to do with the selection?

He's actually doing better than I thought he would as a starter.

And I only briefly (maybe in the first week or two of the season) lost confidence that he'd be the better goalie/best goalie on the team this year. I was pretty adamant that he'd be the best goalie on the team from about March of last year, when it seemed a lock that it would be Blackwood/Schneider as a tandem.

Hey Bleed, Blackwood is awesome and he needs a REAL Backup.

Water is wet, too.

Oh and did I mention Bratt's shootout move worked for the 2nd time out of 8 tries? lol

What does Dad night have to do with the selection?

I mean with Merkely scoring his first ever goal, and with the Dads being in attendance, they decided to put him in there as one of the stars.

I was saying if it wasn't for that, I think Blackwood, Bratt, Anderson would've been the order of stars.

Dano says that second goal on Blackwood was a weak goal and it probably was, but I've seen Kinkaid and Schneider get excused for ''Screens'' that were much more questionable. Like some guy screening from 30 or 40 feet out, where it was just one lone skater from far out.

Carrick (who was TERRIBLE tonight and probably the worst player on the ice) cut across him as the shot was going in.

Going the other way, David Pastrnak is a career 17.4% shootout player. Sometimes shootout success/failure makes no sense.
And I think that's the mistake Nasreddine is making right now with Palmieri and I'm sure many other coaches do too.

Having a bias and tendency to favor guys that are really good goal scorers during in-game situations in shootouts too, where it just doesn't translate.

"We're going to be competitive next year." Fitzgerald says lol
Meh

That's why Shero isn't here anymore, as I don't think the plan was to definitely be competitive next year. Although I do think his plan was to be competitive this year, but that's neither here nor there.

I like what he's said in this press conference so far.

He also said his approach isn’t really different from Rays.
