It's fairly obvious now that the three guys they're intent on building around are Jack, Nico, and Blackwood. I expect Vatanen and Simmonds to be dealt. Hopefully they can get an extension done for Gusev and Palmieri this offseason.

we got guys who can do that. Subban is still here. Palms is still here.

Zajac is becoming a negative on the ice as a player.

What is Subban going to do?

Teach the young players how to fake a slap-shot, then turn the puck over?:laugh::laugh:

Zajac, like Greene, is a player you shop. He does nothing for this team in the short term anymore. He is clearly declining pretty quickly.

You trade a Coleman or Palms because the return is too good. You trade Zajac and Greene because they are old.

He can "shop him" all he wants but Travis has the final say here with his NTC. o_O

Vats and Simmonds need to be out the door. I would keep Palms and Goose unless the price is as good, if not better, then what Coleman got. Their internal value goes up in my mind with Coleman gone.

I don’t expect anyone to offer a 1st and an A- prospect for either of them so I imagine they will stay and we will see if they will resign and how next season goes.

Yes, one of the best D of the last decade has nothing of value to teach kids.

Stop with this.

Whatever you say, man.

I think he's played well below his capabilities....

He is NOT what he once was so please spare me "the BEST D of the Last Decade" rhetoric.

That sure as hell isn't helping us now, is it? :whatever:

and Zajac is even lower. Yet you want him teaching the kids, but not the guy who has had by far the better career.

Palmeiri definitely can get similar value as Coleman, especially if we eat salary or take back a contract.

However, I agree that we should keep them now that Coleman is gone.

I prefer the one who has had a career AS A NJ DEVIL (and not a Habs/Preds/Devils player) but that's just me.
But what does that have to do with teaching them on the ice?

I have no doubt Travis is a great leader, and his experience in this market definitely has benefits, but I don't care how long somebody's been in Jersey, if they have something to offer the kids in terms of wisdom, that's fine, and Subban can definitely do that.

I missed the game tonight. What was the lineup like without Coleman? What lines did they play?

If there's one thing Nas deserves blame for it's the fact that he keeps going with Palmieri in the shootouts.

They even asked him about it the last time in the post game and he said something like ''He was hot and scored tonight'' or something. I think he scored in that game. And maybe that's why he used him again tonight....

Zacha was a good choice, but that was definitely a top-5 blooper reel shootout attempt in Devils history.

I'd give Wood a go in the shootout. At least he would skate fast and come in flying at the net instead of this nonsense coming in really slow garbage that seems to never work for us.

zajac has to go. he had to go a week ago, and given what just transpired he absolutely needs to go now.

I love Trav and the writing is indeed on the wall, but who's trading for him?

We'd have to retain 3/4 of his salary to get anything of value.

it doesn't matter, because it sounds like he isn't going to waive his NMC. but if we retained 50%, i don't think we'd have a hard time finding takers. i assume the return would be similar to what we got for greene

you can only retain 50% of salary and the Devils already had a trade, or close to a trade, worked out for Zajac and he said he won’t waive his no trade clause.

So Zajac isn’t moving no matter the offer because Zajac doesn’t want to be traded.

He has a no trade clause and from the sounds of it he's not interested in going anywhere. Not much you can do there if the guy insists on staying, he earned the no trade clause and that's his right.

Since he has 1 more year on his contract I totally understand him not wanting to uproot his family for a place he might not be interested in staying for long.

It will be a barrel of laughs watching a Subban-Severson-Butcher-Carrick-Mueller-White D going forward, lordy.
