It does feel like Patty is going to want to give it one more go.
I imagine Shero obliges him. It won't hurt to have him around and he could potentially help
I always figured there was a good chance that Shero would point blank tell him that his services are no longer needed or wanted here. I mean particularly after last season ended, and him telling Patty that he wasn't bringing him back.
But I think the fact that they're allowing him to use the team locker room with his own stall, use team practice facility to work out and skate and sit in on team meetings without a contract, shows that he hasn't closed the door on bringing him back and I'd even lean towards him wanting to bring him back if he was healthy right now.
In the past, we never let players who weren't under contract skate at the practice rink (unless it was offseason), and sit in on meetings, have their locker stall right in the main locker room, etc. And I know it's a new regime, but I don't think hardly any teams let players do that if they don't have some interest in signing them eventually and being a part of the team. We did let Marty train at our facility before getting signed by St Louis, but that was only when we were on the road and he wasn't using the main locker room or sitting in the main locker room or sitting in on team meetings, etc. And that was also Lou, who would probably only do that for Marty. He'd probably do it for Patty too, but knowing Lou, I don't think he'd have him in the room like that unless he planned on eventually signing him if possible.
