Terrible for Lou to try and fix our forward group in one offseason especially this one. It will be 2-3 years before our defense becomes anything special so we have team to build up a top 6. We probably have 2 of the top 6 pieces before we become serious contenders.

Jagr, Ryder, Havlat, Clowe, Bernier, Gomez and Tootoo are all UFA's or LTIR. I expect maybe one of those guys to be back. Their going to have to sign someone or trade for at least two players that could theoretically come in and produce in the top 6. I don't expect any of the prospects to be ready to play top 6 minutes. They have no choice but to make moves again during the summer.

Sure we will sign someone, but no reason to give up 5 year contracts just cause we have to fill our roster. I would think that there will be a good amount of KHL players hitting the FA market due to the Russian economy.

Stafford isn't getting Cammalleri money, let's be serious for a second here and quit it with the hyperbole.

I will almost guarantee Stafford gets a 4 or 5 year deal at around $4.5 million per.

look at the rest of the UFA crop. he is sadly one of the better guys available.

30 year old that has a career per game line of .26 / .31 / .57 shouldn't get 4-5 year at 4.5 million, but Lou did give Clowe that and he was .24 / .40 /.64.

Unless that is defensive C or elite defensive forward I won't touch that.

I rather Lou take a risk get Semin off Caroline books.

Now I DON'T think Julien would come back, BUT if for some reason Julien was ok with it. Would you guys want Julien back behind the bench?

Sure. Over the last 7 years BOS has been one of the best 5on5 team.

Personally would prefer Todd McLellan or Stevens head coach and Larry Robinson comes back as NJD assistant

He's had 18, 34 and 25 points the last three years and doesn't do anything else. You're dramatically overstating his value. Zuccarello's more likely to get $5 million and I don't know if I'd bet on that either.

At least Lou was smart enough to give out short term deals to most of the forwards he signed. Cammalleri's been a pretty good addition and Clowe showed some promise until someone bodychecked his career through the glass.

Very true. Lou hasn't been handing out bad contracts in free agency outside of Clowe recently.

Even though Ryder and Brunner, Havlat and other haven't worked. We aren't married to them for years.

Which is why I had zero issue with those signings. They were good ideas at a reasonable price. Didn't work out but again no long term commitments.

i still think clowe wasn't a "bad contract" lou probably knew going in he'd be either a buyout halfway through or the concussions would catch up with him and LTIR would be an option.

I'd like Gomez back. Jagr is already outta here, he checked out about a week ago.

Ryder and Havlat can both **** off into retirement, where they belong. I don't see many teams signing them after this year. They can very likely still be traded this year, but I don't see much interest beyond this season. Ryder might get a deal at a million or under for one year, or possibly even need a training camp tryout. Maybe even getting a training camp tryout after turning down 1 year for 1 million because he thinks he's too good for that. Havlat might be Czech bound.

I do like Bernier this year and forgive him for last year, I just don't think he'll do what he's done next year. He probably won't be as bad as he was last year either, I'm expecting somewhere in between. He might even draw interest from other teams after a season like this. Would like him back to be honest, but we have too much deadweight taking up spaces, that we really don't have room. If we can get rid of deadweight like Zubrus and Ruutu (fat chance) then I'd like to bring him back, but I doubt we can get rid of one of them, let alone both. And Matteau HAS to be in the NHL next year because he's no longer waiver exempt.

Tootoo I'll take back if we must have a goonish type player in the lineup. As was already said, he's better than the Boulton's, Barch's, Janssen's, Peters, and other such junk we've signed. He's probably the most skilled enforcerish type player we've had since Jim McKenzie. Asham wasn't too bad either at the time we had him.

Clowe really needs to hang it up. He just shouldn't be doing this anymore.

I don't think McLellan is that good. Would take Julien over him any day.

I'm not completely convinced he's a big part of the Sharks problems, but I don't wanna find out by having to test out his next stop on the Devils.

I mean I'd rather have him than Oates for **** sure. If that's the absolute best we can do, so be it.

I'm just not convinced McLellan is as good of a coach as his reputation suggests. I'd like to see either he or Boudreau coach a mediocre team and see if they can still have success, and I don't mean a mediocre team like the Devils either.

I'm a bigger believer In guys like Quenneville and Babcock. They've coached the mediocre teams and have had success. Quenneville won a Jack Adams and got some pretty below average St Louis Blues teams into the playoffs years ago. They never got close to a championship, but they really had no business in the playoffs.

I don't really want Gomez back. Hes been a nice story but he'll be 36 midway through next season and I cant' see him being able to keep up over a full 82 game schedule. Josefson should get the 3C role anyway.

I'd take Bernier back but I could see him pulling a Carter and chasing the money somewhere else if our offer isn't good enough. This could be one of his last chances at a decent payday.

As pathetic as it is to say, we really don't have any better options at C than Gomez provides. 1 year at like 2.5M isn't the end of the world.

Jagr has been dead to me for a few weeks. Zids too. Get whatever you can for them at the deadline and call it a day.

I think Clowe will and should take a long hard look and think about whats most important. I just don't see how its safe for him to play anymore.

I don't even think it will take $2.5 to even sign him to a one year deal. I'd rather have him back than any of the other old turds, including the junk we already have signed like Ruutu and Zubrus. He probably won't be as good as he is this year, but I think we can get 30 or so points out of him, which was all I was expecting from the beginning. And we'd only be signing him for one year, so if he stinks, we don't have to worry about the next year of him like we do with Zubrus and Ruutu right now or Salvador the last couple years.
I think Clowe will and should take a long hard look and think about whats most important. I just don't see how its safe for him to play anymore.
Yeah I think he should just stop it. The guy went didn't last 7 games without a concussion into last season, then he went 3 months after he returned. That was almost an accomplishment. Then what did he go this year before getting a concussion? 11 games?

He could also be at the point where he becomes a detriment to the team, which adds to a couple other forwards we already have. If he can't produce, that leaves us with maybe up to 4 deadweight next year, which possibly 3 might be in the top 9.

Unless something was missed it has also became much easier for him to get concussed. Last year he legit got his bell rung, but this year it seemed to be just small bumps and his season was over.

He legit seems to be at the point that any minor contact puts him back. He just can't do it.
