Lindy and staff have got great buy-in from this team this year. They just play hard and willing to do the dirty work that it takes to win games. It's been an amazing transformation.
I think @JimEIV said it well on the main board the other day: The most important lesson for this team this season is to learn to win.

We all know great teams in the past decade or so have never quit on the ice and have overcome a lot of adversity. They are the teams that give 110% effort even when trailing by 2 with 2 minutes to go. And sometimes they are rewarded, and in the big picture they usually do well.

When Kimmo Timonen joined the latest Hawks cup team, he said in an interview that he had never been a part of a team like the Hawks that was tuned just to win. Everything they did was related to playing better and winning more games. Think thats the leadership we are starting to see from Nico. Hes not the next Datsyuk, hes the next Toews!

I don’t understand the complaints I’ve seen here and there about our goal scoring. Team is 4th in the league in goals scored. I’m more than happy with our offensive output at this point.
I think it stems from a few games where we’ve rang the shots up, but didn’t score a whole lot of goals.

But most of those games were literally in the first week of the season. The Flyers and Red Wings games, which were the first two of the year. And the Sharks game where we won, but only scored like 2 goals on 39 shots or something. That’s probably the only game Kahkonen has better than a .900% this year.

I think our shooting percentage was still slightly above league average heading into this game or at least it is at 5 on 5.

Happy for the win however...

...what is Spaulding talking about that the two times Akira was literally pushed into the goal with the puck BEING SIMILAR to what happened against the Leafs?

It's not similar at all.

Unlike the ambiguousness of a couple of the no-goal calls within the rulebook (and that the NHL is never consistent there), THESE No-Goal calls are as CLEAR as day and even Laffs fans, I bet, would agree.

YOU DO NOT PUSH THE GOALTENDER WITH YOUR STICK INTO THE GOAL AFTER A SAVE IS MADE.

It's like the Sabres were thinking "Hmm...The Toronto War Room screwed the Devils over against Toronto. Why not try and see if they can screw them over for us?" (except for the fact that Toronto doesn't give a rat's ass about Any US-Based team)

Anyway, bottom line :

Devils rebound nicely and Akira Schmid is continuing to increase that sample size that @billingtons ghost is looking for to finally admit that Akira is better than Mackenzie Blackwood and deserves to back up Vitek.

Now let's go and exorcise the Caps demons (loss followed by "Fire Lindy" chants soon after) which started that whole run!

LGD!!

rooting for my preferred caps outcome tomorrow, as usual

an 8-3 win with an ovy hatty
Personally, I'd take an 8-0 win.

I'm sick and tired of the Alex Ovechkin Show.

Shut his ass down and run that team out of the building as hard as Tom Wilson takes runs at opposing players.

great game by the boys, our run vs the metro begins tomorrow and i want blood
Especially against the Caps.

I want them(Caps) to be BEATEN.

I also wouldn't mind an asteroid crashing into Tom Wilson's stupid face but that's hoping for too much.

Both Buffalo goals were “scored” after the goalie had covered the puck and the whistle had blown. You can shoot as many pucks into the net as you want when the play is over, none of them go on the board.

On the other hand, all three Devils goals that were taken away were scored during live play.

Completely different. Anyone that compares them is confused, stupid, or, more likely, trolling.

I don't know if they should have been goals or not, but the referee definitely blew the whistle too early. Especially in the latter one where Schmid clearly didn't have the puck. The quick whistle completely denied the review process entirely. Had the roles been reversed, Devils fans would also be furious.

However I do think the Devils were the better team and deserved to win. Good response after a tough loss. The Buffalo is no joke, lots of talent there, their offense felt more dangerous than the Leafs. They just need to get better defensive structure, couple of good shutdown dmen and a little bit maturity and experience, and they'll be a top playoff team.

The first one they have nothing to complain about. The puck was under him and they shoved him into the net, which loosened the puck in the process. The second one it was loose the whole time but the ref lost sight.

Well, I'm happy to say the Devils are back to routinely knocking off wins like, uh... like Matt Murray routinely knocking goals off their moorings.
Someone should start a thread on the mainboard about Murray and goalposts. :sarcasm:

Once ref loses sight of the puck they are supposed to stop play...Are they consistent probably not...But this happens in tons of games probably on a nightly basis called too soon too late....Not really close to what happened against the Leafs....Plus last I remember it's puck in the net not push the goaltender in the net...if that's allowed then no way Nate interfered with soup can on first call...

In both cases the Sabres pushed Schmid into the net.

Calls were fairly obvious.

That wasn't the call. The play was blown dead before the pushing happened (at least in the second goal). I didn't say anything about them being good goals. But I can certainly understand Buffalo's frustration and it amazes me how Devils fans fail to see their side after the shit we just went through.

This literally always happens. Just like a kick, or an obvious offside that gets called back. Its the stupidest thing in the world when it happens against us but it's just the rules when it happens to someone else. We have a tendency to be rather hypocritical at times.
