Lou always treated star players differently....he would've given him a closed door fatherly thing...no punishment and definitely would have done everything he could to protect him....that's the stuff that Lou does that makes everyone Love him.

He never had to deal with something that stupid while he was here, so I am not so sure he wouldn’t have been strict with that one.

You know you’re a fan of a team when you watch this game to the end.

Terribly lackadaisical effort from a lot of our guys for much of this game. But Wood, Gusev, Coleman played with everything they had all game. I admire that. Say what you will about Wood, but he cares. Gives 100% all the time, is pissed to lose or be behind, just a competitive guy. We could use a lot more of that across the roster.

Relieved to learn that Jack was ill tonight, because in the first 2 periods he didn’t look like a guy who belongs in the NHL.

Yes. We might be in the minority but I love having Wood on this team. He may not be the most skilled guy on the ice but he's got size, speed and a great work ethic. As a third or fourth liner I would like to see him here for a while.

Blake Coleman is what’s good about hockey. Someone mentioned that he’s the type of player that could have played on any one of the Cup teams. That’s absolutely spot on. Dude is a throwback and it’s nice to have a player like him, especially in a season like this.

Won’t get too worked up about this loss. They just didn’t have it tonight and that happens to all teams. It’s just tough when you piss away the first three months of the season. Draft position be dammed. I genuinely hope these guys finish strong this season. It’s important to go into next season having something to build off of.

A lot of drunks played for the Devils....a lot of them. Not all were treated the same.

yeah in a normal season you could write a lose off like this. It happens and they still tried to push through so I am not going to lose my mind over it.

Wood may have a 44 IQ but he always has an abundance of energy for Hockey.

Goose just continues to Honk-it-up out there. ;)

And Coleman is Captain Material, moreso than Palms, Nico, and especially Greene.

That story Gomez told recently about Lou going ape**** over a kisscam thing with Langenbrunner was classic.
It just so happened that Gomez was a healthy scratch the next game.

But it's long since been known that Gomer was apparently being traded for Selanne and held out of the lineup that game, but Selanne refused to allow himself to be traded to us and the deal didn't happen and Gomer stayed.

We're relying on a lot of young guys to play key roles as well, so we're going to have off nights. That they didn't quit and kept pushing is what I like to see. These games under Hynes they just packed it in.

Anyone that wants to extend Vatanen has fruitcake between their ears. Hope we can get a second for him.
Eh.

The fact that he might have fruitcake between his ears is the only reason I would be okay with not extending him.

Our blueline is also clearly not talented enough. If they don’t play with decent defensive structure they are going to have lots of problems, especially against a team like this.

Butcher needs to be a third pairing guy at best and everyone else needs to be gone.

It isn’t so much he was drunk. If a guy was being dumb, pissing on the street after a night out in Hoboken, sure. But the break into a girl’s car part? I think Lou wouldn’t tolerate that.
I thought Matthews was drunk during the incident? No?

ex leafs captain rob ramage is an example of what not to do while drunk……..ya, jail time

also….fun fact! (at the time the move from rockies)

June 9, 1982: Traded to St. Louis by New Jersey for St. Louis' 1st round choice (John MacLean) in 1983 Entry Draft.

edit: the blues had ZERO draft picks in '83

Didn’t Daneyko get an impaired driving on his way home from an AA meeting ..... something crazy like that
I think that was after he was done as a player and I don't remember it being on his way back from an AA meeting. Unless he got one back in the 90's. The only one I remember was back in 06 or something, which was after he was retired.

He did go through rehab and missed a couple months in the late 90's, which Lou gave him his blessing and told him to go to rehab and that they'd take care of him.
