Hischier’s pretty cool
Could we all just take a moment to savour Dougie addressing the guy who tied the series as 'Jabroni'?
From the now-closed GDT :
@Unknown Caller Meh, the Devils haven't won shit yet. Rangers fans were just as high after they won the first two games.
So I shouldn't be optimistic...even a little?
This cautious take is not the most popular on HF, but I mostly agree with your post. The team trailing in these low event games tends to look terrible and the team leading tends to look great defensively. In the first two games, the Devils could barely get through the neutral zone without icing the puck and they looked awful, while the Rangers looked like defensive stalwarts. Everyone immediately said that the Devils style wouldn't work in the playoffs.
Then the Devils win a couple tight games, and now the narrative is that we learned how to lock things down in the neutral zone and gained "playoff experience."
The reality is that, primarily as a result of the Rangers strategy, this has turned into a slog and very low event hockey. The team that is trailing late in a game is generally going to look like they can't get anything going.
I kind of get the “it’s not over yet” sentiment because it’s not, but there’s a difference between being happy with what the team has done in the last 2 games (which is completely legitimate given the adjustments and taking 2 in their home with them having all the momentum) and saying the series is over and we’re for sure winning this.Players play.
Fans cheer.
It's not rocket science, Kobe.
What I don't like about what you and Caller are saying is that fans aren't allowed to feel a certain way. This cautious take is not the most popular on HF, but I mostly agree with your post.
I do think the Devils are playing better, but the bipolar overconfidence / despair of both fanbases never ceases to amaze me. After game 2, the Rags fans were proclaiming they would go all the way to the ECF; now their board wants Gallant's head and to blow it all up. We over here were too cocky (imo) leading up to game 1, rightfully despondent after game 2; but are now a wee bit too overconfident again.
Game 5 could go either way imo. I'm nervously, cautiously optimistic heh.
I read just NOW from a few in this thread that whomever wins this game, wins the series.I kind of get the “it’s not over yet” sentiment because it’s not, but there’s a difference between being happy with what the team has done in the last 2 games (which is completely legitimate given the adjustments and taking 2 in their home with them having all the momentum) and saying the series is over and we’re for sure winning this.
I haven’t seen anyone claiming we’re 100% winning.
Many on this board said the series was done when we went 0-2, yet we’re now tied.I read just NOW from a few in this thread that whomever wins this game, wins the series.
And while that's not LITERALLY correct, it does put the winning team in a very favorable "driver's seat" to wrap things up and move on.
So in essence, it's kind of true.
Oh no question on all of that. Many on this board said the series was done when we went 0-2, yet we’re now tied.
It’s not unheard of for teams down 3-2 to win in 7. For example, we did it in our last big run, against the Panthers.
Point is, it’s not over until it’s over. Imo games 3 and 4 were much more “must win” games than tonight’s game. Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make it a lot harder tonight if we lost, but yeah, this team has shown a lot of resiliency.
I have a lot of faith in them and I believe they can get it done. Whatever happens to be honest, I’m proud of them. Superb season really and a great step forward.
This is how I feel. I feel good about our chances of winning because of how we played the last two games and have limited the Rangers offence. We have momentum and home Ice BUT with how close the score has been , I can also see us outplaying them but they get a lucky bounce and win by a goal. Us winning tonight would obviously be a huge advantage and would crush the Rangers confidence . On the other side , Rangers win swings momentum back to them and we head to the crap hole MSG for a must win gameOh no question on all of that.
But like you said, it will be a LOT harder if they lost.
Giving the Rags 2 shots to clinch with their propensity of having a horseshoe-up-their-ass goal to win it is something I do NOT want to happen.
That's why beating them tonight is so important.
That means we have a margin for error so that if they DO get that Lucky-as-fk goal in Game 6, they would've used up their "luck" for Game 7.
But first things first : WIN TONIGHT.
Don't care how.
Just do it.
It was a comment responding to how much Jerry Recco (a Devils fan) must be loving life on the Boomer and Gio show right now because Boomer’s a Rangers fan.I kind of get the “it’s not over yet” sentiment because it’s not, but there’s a difference between being happy with what the team has done in the last 2 games (which is completely legitimate given the adjustments and taking 2 in their home with them having all the momentum) and saying the series is over and we’re for sure winning this.

I also share this, because of course the series isn't over, I agree there. It was a comment responding to how much Jerry Recco (a Devils fan) must be loving life on the Boomer and Gio show right now because Boomer’s a Rangers fan.
My point was that the Devils haven’t won anything yet, no logical fan is “loving life” just because you tied a series. It's normal to enjoy wins along the way and be hopeful, but no fan who's lived through playoff runs is lapping up Rangers fans tears just because we won a couple of nail biters.
Yea I watched the one where they all bet against the Devils before game 4 and then the one right after to see how pissed they all were. I tried looking up the Pasha guy, but as much as I actually like the chiclets, they are absolutely horrible at realizing not everyone knows these people they bring up and talk to/about as much as they do, and never shout them out in a way people can check them out.lol i know ppl hate spittin chiclets on here, but man do i love Pasha for being such a homer
he's def a diehard but you'll only see him show up their pod i'm pretty sure (maybe commenting on their posts). he's been adamant about NJ in 6 since the start lolYea I watched the one where they all bet against the Devils before game 4 and then the one right after to see how pissed they all were. Does he only post on instagram and twitter? Or does he have youtube. He seems like a diehard I'd want to watch every once in a while.
