We don’t because that’s not the system, we chase the puck to the perimeter in extra numbers.
The aggressive “quick possession if you win, oopsie if you don’t” is actually the plan.
Someone should have hustled back faster when they lost the battle but the players might have not known who goes where. (A common problem when everyone ends up all over the place chasing the puck in man defense.)
This system also makes young, fatigued players more prone to mental mistakes and these guys are playing ridiculous minutes because of the lack of depth. (Which is very annoying because that was a predictable problem, but whatever.)
