LINDY RUFF NEEDS VIAGRA!!
Or is it Deep-two since they only scored 2? Eh. Whatever.
What a big victory by the Devils tonight!! LET'S GOO, BAYBEEE!!!!
Going into this game, goaltending was a big worry and afterward?
It is still a big worry but for one night, Akira played better than any goaltender had to date.
The Devils had more goals than the Kraken at the end and that's all that matters (whether it's by 1 or 10...doesn't matter)
Jesper Bratt continues to show that he's out of that cold spell which is huge because this team needs him to stay focused and engaged in the game.
Palat scoring was a big moment. A beautiful tic-tac-toe goal from Nico, to Marino, to Palat.
HOWEVER....based on the replay, I'm not sure if it wasn't BRATT who got the goal as it seems like Palat missed the pass from Marino down low, and the puck deflected off of Bratt in front.
That could be Bratt's goal.
Nevertheless, Devils went up 1-0 which is huge to get out in front of a team.
And then we have Nemec.
Congrats to his First Career NHL goal from a great pass (as always) from Bratt!!
That goal was huge because the Kraken had just tied it up and that basically took back the momentum the Devils lost from that.
There were a few hiccups defensively but bruh...He's just 19 so he gets a mulligan regardless.
Jack was, as always, himself on the ice. (we are BLESSED to have him and his bro as Devils)
Nico is Nico : An absolute warrior who does all he can do to help the Devils win hockey games.
Seeing Brendan Smith at forward has really become quite the pleasant surprise.
Oh and going back to Palat for a sec :
Drew a HUGE penalty on Seattle with 4:24 (I think) remaining in the third) which at the very least (should the Devils not score) would cut down the opportunities of the Kraken for 2 minutes.
Of course, the Devils had to give us all heart-attacks by almost allowing a Short-handed goal that rang off the crossbar. Good lord!!
Kraken then pulled the goaltender but Akira stood tall and the Devils hung on for a very gutsy 2-1 road win!! (and I need some antacid for all the Heartburn they gave me tonight)
Now that I said all the good stuff, it's time for the not-so-good stuff :
- The Short-handed attempt was sh*tty (but fortunately we got lucky that they missed).
- Timo is really still trying to find himself, though I do recall that he's a notoriously slow starter and prior to his injury, he finally started to get it going offensively.
My guess is that the injury RESET that "clock" so to speak so we'll have to deal with him being ineffective the next week or so as he gets revved up again.
Devils have now won back-to-back road games...somehow.
Let's see if they can keep up the mojo going against Calgary next and try to make it 3 in a row.
LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
(oh yeah...there's a POLL if anyone wants to vote for the 3 stars of the game)
