Or is it Deep-two since they only scored 2? Eh. Whatever.

What a big victory by the Devils tonight!! LET'S GOO, BAYBEEE!!!!

Going into this game, goaltending was a big worry and afterward?

It is still a big worry but for one night, Akira played better than any goaltender had to date. :)

The Devils had more goals than the Kraken at the end and that's all that matters (whether it's by 1 or 10...doesn't matter)

Jesper Bratt continues to show that he's out of that cold spell which is huge because this team needs him to stay focused and engaged in the game.

Palat scoring was a big moment. A beautiful tic-tac-toe goal from Nico, to Marino, to Palat.

HOWEVER....based on the replay, I'm not sure if it wasn't BRATT who got the goal as it seems like Palat missed the pass from Marino down low, and the puck deflected off of Bratt in front.

That could be Bratt's goal.

Nevertheless, Devils went up 1-0 which is huge to get out in front of a team.

And then we have Nemec.

Congrats to his First Career NHL goal from a great pass (as always) from Bratt!! :highclap:

That goal was huge because the Kraken had just tied it up and that basically took back the momentum the Devils lost from that.

There were a few hiccups defensively but bruh...He's just 19 so he gets a mulligan regardless.

Jack was, as always, himself on the ice. (we are BLESSED to have him and his bro as Devils)

Nico is Nico : An absolute warrior who does all he can do to help the Devils win hockey games.

Seeing Brendan Smith at forward has really become quite the pleasant surprise.

Oh and going back to Palat for a sec :

Drew a HUGE penalty on Seattle with 4:24 (I think) remaining in the third) which at the very least (should the Devils not score) would cut down the opportunities of the Kraken for 2 minutes.

Of course, the Devils had to give us all heart-attacks by almost allowing a Short-handed goal that rang off the crossbar. Good lord!! 😬

Kraken then pulled the goaltender but Akira stood tall and the Devils hung on for a very gutsy 2-1 road win!! (and I need some antacid for all the Heartburn they gave me tonight)

Now that I said all the good stuff, it's time for the not-so-good stuff :

- The Short-handed attempt was sh*tty (but fortunately we got lucky that they missed).

- Timo is really still trying to find himself, though I do recall that he's a notoriously slow starter and prior to his injury, he finally started to get it going offensively.

My guess is that the injury RESET that "clock" so to speak so we'll have to deal with him being ineffective the next week or so as he gets revved up again.

Devils have now won back-to-back road games...somehow.

Let's see if they can keep up the mojo going against Calgary next and try to make it 3 in a row.

LET'S GO DEVILS!!! :devdance::devdance::devdance::devdance::devdance::devdance:

(oh yeah...there's a POLL if anyone wants to vote for the 3 stars of the game)

This was a carbon copy of our game against Columbus – just the other way round. First time this season our goalie stole a game. The offense was really meh though, especially the Mercer line was just terrible. It wasn't pretty at all, many guys didn't have it tonight, including Jack, who probably played his worst game of the season, but a win is a win. Thanks to Akira and the crossbar.

Maybe I should add "the crossbar / the post" as one of the 3 stars in future PGTs.:laugh::laugh:

And they finally did a pretty good job of it. Excluding special teams at least. PK still can’t defend worth a damn and they got one of their best chances while we were on the PP
Well they certainly passed that test, haak.

This was a gut-check win if ever I saw one.
Not the prettiest win but a gutsy one. Schmid played well but the devils played to his strengths. If Schmid is going to be a top 10 goalie this team needs to play 50% of its games like this.

Offense created some nice looks but all in all they couldn’t get much going. Defensively at 5v5 there were a lot of chances but they really cut down on the hyper dangerous ones. There was the one breakaway and then the GA which was just brutal from Bahl and Marino. Outside of that nothing egregious and he rewarded them for that and had their back on yet another god awful PK

We hit the post multiple times, does that matter too? (I mean to people who think that sort of thing is significant for some reason.)

I see that chart as the devils just completely sitting back after the nemec goal. It seemed like a challenge because it was not in this teams nature to let the play come to them.

I feel if they play like this going forward, they will have a way better chance of winning games.

At least with Akira in net.

With Vitek? Who knows?

This team has not been last years team that continues ramming it down their throat with lead. They sat back and turtled in the Canucks game too

We need to discuss these trash Fanatic hats some of them were wearing in the post-game interviews.

That’s “New Jersey” in red/white with a black stripe through the middle. What a mess, it took me a while to figure out what was actually happening on the front.

The Devils logo is somewhat randomly slapped on one side.

The Fanatics brand of shame is on the opposite side.

It's a shame how the trash they put out has to be repped by the players, and they've taken over virtually any decent sports apparel maker and reduced their quality, such as Mitchell and Ness. At least when Fanatics takes over the jerseys, it's supposedly from the same factory in Canada that is making them now. But, I'll be pleasantly surprised if fans will be able to access similar quality without having to pay an arm and a leg.
