It makes my heart happy that Sutter flamed out in Calgary after the duplicitious way he left and never really wanting to be here to begin with.
plus he didnt like Elias (or European players in general) waddadickLooking back on it, Sutter was one of the worst coaches we’ve had.
He leaned on Madden and Pandolfo so hard in that series and both were bad by that point, especially Pandolfo.
He gave them a ton of minutes in game 5 (so we could win 1-0) and game 7.
Yes, he definitely choked away game 4 when he was bumped into by a Canes player with seconds left in the regulation and his massive choke in game 6 when we got shutout.
LMAO. The dude literally won more games than any other goalie in NHL history and more importantly helped win 3 Cups, but I'm going to hold a few bad moments against him as proof he never carried the team![/QUOTE
Imagine living in a world where Devils fans criticise Martin f***ing Brodeur.
I miss seeing that man lace 'em up, every single damn day.
The game 4 winner was deflected a foot in front of him. Even if he wasn’t bumped he has no chance on that goal.lol Just stop it with the bump. I was mad just like everyone else after 12 years I can say that didn’t have an effect on him making a save. Yeah the devils did get shut out in game 6 but they also could’ve used a Marty stand on your head series clincher road win but they didn’t get it
I don’t know how legit that may or may not be, but he seemed to know what he was doing until that series. Then he seemed to overload them with minutes, especially when we had a lead.plus he didnt like Elias (or European players in general) waddadick
Biron, of course.
Are you even a Devils fan? Or are you, like, under the age of 18 and only remember things that have happened since 2012?My biggest knock on Marty which I’m sure people will disagree. He never really carried the team. I’m sure there were some but I don’t recall him standing on his head in a 2-1 40 save playoff game post nieds stevens. Also I don’t really ever remember him taking blame for the playoff flops. If only he could’ve been clutch against the kings we go to la up 2-0
Pretty sure that was kovy who did thatMarty put the team on his back and carried them to the SCF at like 40 years old
Why do people always say this? He performed very well, but almost none of his goals were clutch. I'd say that 2012 run was a team effort, probably more propelled by how much the bottom 6/role players contributed moreso than anything the top players did individually. And also Henrique's OT heroics.Pretty sure that was kovy who did that

because he was the reason that’s why. He was a force averaging almost 23mins a night. He was absolutely more responsible for the devils making the finals then Marty. No Kovy no playoff run 100%. Take your glasses off

I'm sorry @NJDevs26 but this is aggravating and I can't wait for Hockey to resume.

I seem to recall that the 4th line led by CARTER played a huge role in that run.
Moreso than Broken-back Kovy, too.
