This is frickin hilarious. How fitting would it be if he just goes back to Edmonton and then they actually have success with him and Larsson?

I feel like the state of this franchise currently is some kind of karma for being good for two decades.

This is why I loved when the Oilers spit the bit the last time they were in the playoffs. They start 5-1 and all the sudden people are speculating they're playoff bound and deserve other teams top players.

Everyone of their wins they have had to come from behind. They are also playing McDavid like 30 a night. This isn’t sustainable.

Call me crazy but do you think Hall could fetch a package of one of Bouchard/Brodberg & one of Yamamoto/Benson from EDM? Or Caulfield and Romanov from MTL. I feel like those are 2 plausible suitors. I would of course rather re-sign Hall. But this team cannot afford the loss of assets in this point of its cycle. I would take 2 real blue chippers back and move forward.

no

and no

not to mention like I said, unless Edmonton gets out of Neal or something they have no cap space for Hall. They have $58 million tied up in NINE players next year.

Yeah I'm sure that's right, but the general idea of a like package from any team who has a high end F & D prospect we can take and move forward with. I'm okay with being a young & exciting team while the D and goaltending positions get sorted out.

I'm an accountant and think of a team as a collection of assets. There's different types of assets, ones that peak produce now and ones that peak produce later. Not gonna lie, I'm still damaged from losing parise/kovy/elias/marty in 12-14' with no assets in return, crippling the franchise, starting it over with the least assets in the league.

Schneider/Blackwood and some of the guys we're rolling out to eat big D mins are not that of a contender. Could be fixed quick, but it's not close now. I'm a huge Hall fan and it might be the best for both.

We aren't going to get a high end forward prospect and a high end D prospect though. The chances of that happening are slim to none. Go back through the past few years and see what the top rentals returned...It will likely be an OK roster player, 1st round pick, and maybe a prospect

Yup.

This is the latest example of Canadian media stroking themselves with no regard for reality. There is not a shot in hell that team can afford even half of Hall’s next deal.

It’s best to just tune them out, especially in times like these.

Friedman likes to mix in his own speculation to actual scoops so you have to be aware of thst.

Oh no we haz to make up 4 points to gain a wild card spot with only 76 to go. How can we ever right this ship??

I get your sarcasm, Pavail, but let's not act like the Devils aren't in a precarious situation right now.

Team needs to turn this around starting NEXT GAME...otherwise, things may end up getting worse, the hole will become much bigger, and all the sarcasm in the world won't lead us back to a Playoff berth but instead the dreaded "playing for pride" or "playing out the string".

Am I being melodramatic here? A bit.

But the problem is staring us right in the face : John Hynes. (and...MAYBE...some of the players, too)

Let's see what Fitz can find out.
