9. St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong’s proclamation that his coaching search would expand into Europe flicked on a lightbulb in the noggin, reminding that it was time to check in on World Cup Team Europe coach Ralph Krueger. There’s been interest in Krueger since that tournament, but his day job — chairman of Southampton Football Club in the Premier League — keeps him at arm’s length. His reply: “I am focused on completing this season in the EPL. I will assess my future soon.” Hmmmmmmmmmn.

If hynes goes, i wonder if ownership can pull strings. they're owners of Crystal Palace, so they might already know Ralph Krueger, or at least know people who do.

This offseason cap space needs to be taken advantage of should a lot of the guys who are pending UFAs get to UFA.

If Mueller can sit multiple games for one really bad game, Wood can sit for a season worth of garbage play.

So, you think that because he makes a terrible decision sitting Mueller - he should couple that with a bad decision to sit Wood too? ah... logic.

Time to get extreme... trade Hall for a couple of 1st round picks and prospects, tank to get a high this year, and restart with Nico, Smith, Bratt, Zacha, etc? Maybe by the time these guys get to their primes, we might end up as the Winnipeg Jets East 5-7 years now if we draft well. Shero needs to find out soon whether or not Hall wants to stay here... We got Kovy for nothing - rentals don't return much. It's either this trade deadline or July 1st.

Goalies are so hard to predict I've pretty much just given up at this point. It seems like for every goalie that hit the ground running in their early 20's there's another that didn't until their mid-to-late 20's. Then you've got goalies like Talbot that were great backups, had a good year as a starter, then has settled in as an average goalie. Or goalies like Darling who similarly put up great numbers as a backup, only to fall flat on his face as a starter. Then you've got a goalie like Kinkaid who may or may not be a decent starter (it's hard to tell behind this cluster**** of a team).

It seems like a lot of goalies' peaks are only a few years these days. The Roy's, Brodeur's, Lundqvist's of the league that did it for like a decade+ are mostly a thing of the past.

The true elites, brodeur, haskek, roy, played most of their games during the season (esp brodeur). While it is more taxing on the body to keep going out and playing, you get on a great rythm which propels your throughout.
Now goalies barely last 60 games, and are taken in and out every few days. No goalie can maintian a rythm that way, and God forbid you are struggling like cory, it's much harder to get out of a slump/rehab by only getting a game every week or 2.

If you look around the league you'll find a few really bad goalies (darling comes to mind), and a few above average goalies (holtby, henrik etc). Most are just average, usually giving up 2-3 goals a game.

ATTENTION

HYNES IS ON THE PLANE TO LA

Did you expect anything different? The team has to play it's way out of this, and that's that. A different coach would do nothing.
You also didnt need to make it caps, I'm sure everyone here can read normal font.

No, I think Wood deserves to sit because he's been a useless dipshit that apparently thinks because he held out into camp for a new contract that he doesn't need to do the things that got him that contract to begin with.

Anyone that believed Hynes was getting canned just wanted him to be fired just for the sake of being fired.

They forget that there needs to be someone to immediately take over and with all due respect to Kowalsky, he's not part of the solution.

I mostly agree...there's nobody on the staff that even deserves an interim tag, which is part of my problem with Hynes - his own lousy staff. But if there was someone better than Hynes who we could realistically hire (Quenneville's not it, Shero's not paying a coach more than he himself is making) I'd throw him overboard in five seconds.

Kruger was an interesting name brought up a while back but I don't know if A) he realistically would want to get back into hockey or B) how close the connection really is - maybe Shero knows him through international hockey, I doubt the owners would step in on a coach hire unless Shero prompted them.

i feel like if they wanted to utilize the cap space then their best bet is trading for pending UFA's and convincing them that Jersey isn't bad. Rarely to they sign a FA out of the blue. Lou was good at this. I thought they had a legit shot at Skinner. Maybe Karlsson who knows.
