Did you expect anything less?

Not really.

If they attempt to answer that question, it blows up their entire "argument", hence it continues to go unanswered. Except by Devils731, to his credit, though he completely proved the point I make regarding Damon Severson, by answering it.

Is there a reason why you forgot to mention the good teams he faced or you just decided to take a handful of games that fit your argument.

Lesser competition or not, is a argument against Severson in all honesty. If he can't crack the lineup against those crap teams in a must win situation, that'snot helping your cause Jimbo!
His last 5 games are NYI, Mtl, NYR, TOR, WAS. 3 are cupcake games. 1 he was terrible.

Like the X’s and O’s yesterday where people wanted to pin a goal solely on Severson despite a Nico turnover preventing him from getting off the ice, Stafford being too tired to be where he was supposed to be, Nico losing his man on the backcheck, and Bratt no collapsing to the slot as the weak side winger like the team calls for him to.

But all the X’s and O’s experts that get it knew it was 100% on Severson for not ensuring Stafford wasn’t flat footed.
Severson had the puck on his stick. He had it, he could've killed the play and you know what he did?

He threw a weak backhand sauce in the slot... You know that defenseman can do other things then generating shots, like play defense.

That's a prime example of Severson stupid play putting his teammates in a tough spot.

Yes, Nico shouldn't have turned the puck over, but it didn't lead to an odd man rush. We kept Washington to the outside, until Severson magic pass

Due to my elevation in years, I’m finding it harder and harder to retain my rainman status. @Cage Helmet is a very helpful resource though. He’s a little bit younger than me and probablysleeps a lot more than me. He can remember Deron Quint’s only goal as a Devil, while I can’t even remember Deron Quint playing for the Devils.

I compare this to a 22 year old cocker spaniel my family had. She had what we call “selective hearing” where you would be trying to call her and she would keep walking in the opposite direction but if you whispered “treat”, she would turn around and come running. You now have selective memory Bleed, as Deron Quint isn’t something many of us want/need to remember.

And yet, your boy was MIA.

Just goes to show you how good Severson really is I guess. The teams aren't the issue, the issue is that those games were must wins, something you've neglected to understand (most probably cause it'll f*** up your weak argument) for the past 5 posts of yours and since they were must wins, Severson was left where he likes to be more often then not... out of position, in the press box!

Well here's the thing, yes, there were multiple mistakes on the play starting with Nico, but the CRITICAL error is in fact 100% on Severson.

Mistakes get made all the time and covered for without pucks ending up in the back of the net. The Nico error is untalked about today if Severson doesn't lazily lolly-pop a weak backhand pass to the slot.

And Stafford was in a fine position, you're wrong about that. It's the idiotic pass from Severson to Stafford that directly led to the goal. If you want to nit-pick, Moore could have been in better support on that play, why you left him out of criticism I have no idea if you're going to criticize Bratt too.

He threw it towards Stafford who should be coming towards the puck instead of standing still. A better option would have been towards the boards, knowing Stafford was standing still, but no guarantees that ends that play either.

I faulted him in my description for not recognizing Stafford wasn’t moving but it was a joke to try and pin that play only on Severson when there were multiple errors made on it.

Moore had a guy he was covering. He can’t cover everyone coming into the slot without leaving a different guy open. The weak side winger is supposed to be aware of that.

See, again it's a fundamental hockey play. You don't throw a blind backhand sauce in front of your own net. See, Severson problem is not his skills. It's in his head. He's a dumb player.

That's what people are harping Severson for. His fundamentals in his own end are absolutely terrible. His awareness on the ice on both end is terrible. From bad pinches in the offensive zone, to playing defense like a peewee player.

I think Severson in terms of skill is our most skilled defenseman. Too bad he's also the dumbest.

Actually he was playing 20+ minutes in 4 of his last 5 and actually led the team in 5v5 minutes for a couple of those games. You know...like 20:04 vs Tampa, 22:10 vs Pittsburgh, 21:19 last night, real minutes.

Speaking of stafford(switching gears here), He had a nice no-look pass behind him to...NO ONE while he, Nico, and Bratt were driving into the offensive zone. Very Impressive. :skeptic::skeptic::skeptic::skeptic:

He could've played 60 minutes yesterday, it wouldn't of changed a dman thing.

I have no idea what your point is in all honesty... when the games mattered the most, Severson was eating popcorn and Mueller got the call.

When the playoffs will get underway, Severson will still be eating popcorn while Mueller will be playing meaningful minutes :thumbu:

The end.

Lol.
Pressbox? He's missed 6 games in the last two years lol. Mueller was scratched that much in October, let alone during the stretch drive. Give me a freaking break

See, I think Severson is follow the Devils breakout there. He is in trouble with pressure, there is no Devil behind the net, the Devils then play the puck towards the strong side wing. The strong side wing is expected to win or at least tie up the puck but Stafford wasn’t coming in for support as expected.

There likely weren’t any options at that point where Washington wasn’t going to have the puck in the zone next.

And yet, he lost his starting job to a guy you seem to brush off in our most important games of the season AND to start the postseason... should tell you everything you need to know about Severson.

They weren't important. It was literally the easiest portion of the schedule in the second half...thats what I am trying to tell you. NYR, montreal were two of three scratches.

And yet Severson looked like shit vs Carolina, and vs the NYI, as he was sat after this one.

Your second part of that is fair but saying the games were not important is just flat wrong. We'd be hiding under couches tonight if we lost even one of those games (and then lost with our A lineup last night), and we could EASILY have lost to the Habs or Leafs.

Not sure what they'll do. I would imagine the matchup will dictate the decision.

Severson has 5 points in 11 games against Tampa in his career. You can't keep that out of the lineup if it's the matchup...Boston might be another story.

No, what Severson did was throw a BLIND, NO LOOK PASS, directly into the slot of the defensive zone!

Severson_FAil.gif

Notice how Severson's back is to the play?!?!?!?!?

Notice how Stafford isnt even in the picture frame?

Do you know why Stafford ISNT in the picture frame? I'll answer that, it's because he's expecting Severson to do what defenseman are trained to do, and move the puck along the wall. I'm sure Stafford was the most surprised person in the entire building when Riverboat Gambling Captain Severson went for the no look behind the back defensive zone pass instead. Stafford is NOT to blame here.
