Team Lars taking advantage of the absent leader of Team Palmieri today :P

And now I have my theme for tomorrow's GDT, is there a traitor among Team Lars?

Too bad O'Neill wasn't in last night, probably could have scored a goal.

Luck of the Irish and all, and the fact that the Wild were terrible.

Let's see if they can finally beat post-Rags Torts.

I see them getting a point this weekend out of 4 vs a miserably bad Cbj squad that is playing out the string.

John MacLean could coach this Blow Jackets team and we'd probably still never or rarely beat them. Every game would be like our 5-0 win over Washington that year before Thanksgiving.

If the Devils manage to beat the Jackets ONCE these next two games, that would be a MIRACLE of Biblical Proportions.

We already blew our weekly quota of goals last night, so we're probably doomed.

It's Columbus, so yeah we might have. I had to make another call to my friend and ask him ''What's the Columbus goaltender that we always lose to?'' because he remembers all the jabroni's names that we lose to. I just refer to them ''Goaltenders that no one has ever heard of'' because a lot people who don't follow those particular teams haven't heard of them, unless they play for their team.

And I knew he'd know his name, because he's brought him up in the past. And he said ''Bobrovsky?'' I said ''No it's some backup, his name sounds like Backuphaney or something?'' And he goes ''Ohhhhh yeah! Curtis Macelhaney!''. So I had to look up his splits against the Devils, It's spelled McElhinney. .934 career save percentage against the Devils LOL, which is a high among EVERY team in the league that he's faced. There were 3 other teams (maybe 4) that he had a career .920+ against. And a 1.61 GAA against us. 3-1-0 in 5 career games. His loss was obviously the 1-0 shutout win over them last year.

Funny enough, I looked up Bobrovsky's splits against us and was absolutely stunned that in his career he only has a .903 save percentage and GAA of 2.84 in 10 games. He does have a winning record of 6-3-1, but I swore his save percentage was much higher and GAA had to be much lower against us. I know he stunk against us for Philly and wasn't very good in Philly in general, but I figured he's played against us more as a Blue Jacket at this point that he ever did as a Flyer. I'd bet his save percentage is .920+ against us as a Blue Jacket, maybe even .930+, with a GAA at or below 2.

We've been in the bottom 5 in goals for 5 of the last 6 years, so I'm sure a lot of goalies have nice stats against us.

The really funny thing is that I'd bet Lundqvist hasn't even played as good against us in the last 5 or 6 years as he did the first 5 or 6 years he played before that.

It is why the Hockey God's took KPalm from us. They demanded sacrifice for 7 goals and two from Sislo.

Well maybe it's a good thing, we're usually only good for 1 goal per game against the Blue Jackets anyway. So hopefully if he is out, he's after the weekend.

But he probably would have been a non factor than anything if he were in.

Unless him being out becomes the difference of us getting our usual 1 goal against them and 0 goals against them.:help:

So what do we do on the off chance we win both these games?

I don't think it gets us realistically back into the playoff conversation, as we can only afford to probably lose about 4 more points on the season. 2 more regulation losses will all but officially eliminate us from playoff contention. I think we'd need to go 9-2-0 or 8-1-2 just to get to 93 points as it is.

But if we do win both, it will already be more wins than I expected to have for the remainder of the season a couple weeks ago.

I think it was sometime before the Nashville game, that I said I don't expect to win more than 5 more times in the season. That I was expecting 5 more wins and maybe a couple of OT losses over the last 18 games or whatever we had left at the time.

We've won 4 since then. So barring a rotten 3 weeks identical to last season's final 3 weeks, I expect we'll win a few more than the 5 I figured we'd have left. Last year we had one win after St Patrick's Day. It was against the Habs in a shootout with Kinkaid. So I expect we'll win more than one of our last 11 games. This team isn't nearly as horrible defensively as last year's team, due to the Hydra (and Pete) both not having an answer to allowing less than 30 shots per game down the stretch and us not having a chance to be in as many games, even when the goaltending was great.

Ya have to do 9-1-1 to get 95 which would be about a 50% chance.

Or just go 11-0-0 which would be more then enough.

I can see us ending up with 89-91 points which will definitely not be enough, but will piss the pro-tank crowd off something fierce.

I'm utterly embarrassed by the tanking mentality, I'll take wins like last game more than some pick. I understand the argument for it, but we can find a good enough player in the top 9-12 range. We were too good early on to finish with a bottom 5 pick anyway.

I understand that we've been a non playoff team for 5 out of 6 years, so maybe it's slowly taking over. But the pro-tanking crowd is something I'm associating with teams like Edmonton, Toronto, Arizona, Buffalo. The teams that have been awful for the last decade and still show zero improvement, despite their amazing picks. Arizona and Buffalo haven't really been bad for over a decade, but it's still something that even their management is behind doing right now.

The CBJ (because I HAD to list them) are another team to support if you like tanking. 2 playoff wins in franchise history, 2 playoff seasons out of 15?

I rarely read other teams forums, outside of this one and the Sharks. But I constantly see ''Time to tank!'' threads all over the place when I refresh the main page of the forum. And it's usually on the forums of the teams that have been a wildfire for a decade now and never seem to get any better.

If there are hockey gods, hopefully they'll reward us for not embracing the tank and give us a top 3 pick. Although we may have used that luck up already back in 2011 with Larsson.
