No it doesn't make sense, they just signed Tannehill to a contract and moving on from him this year would be a $68M dead cap hit, and next year would be a $57M dead cap hit.

Is that still a factor if he's traded to the Texans?

Watson is a clear and obvious improvement on Tannehill. He turns that offense into a juggernaut and makes them legit SB contenders. Henry will eventually get injured like every other running back and that's when their window ends. They should try to capitalize while he's still dominant.

Yes, its not quite as much but would be 10 mil this year and 28 mil on next years cap if they trade him right now, trading him in offseason is a 29 mil hit on next years cap

Watson is not that much of an upgrade, especially with his potential legal issues to eat that much dead cap space

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but a lot of the rumblings over Houston trading Watson is they don’t want a QB back. Or at least not one with a big contract like Tannehill.

Which makes sense—Houston is probably looking to acquire their next QB in the draft.

Not a great draft for QB.
