Injury Report: Derek Stepan (DTD) Will not play against Boston

...as the top-line center left Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to the Islanders at the Garden with what coach Alain Vigneault called an “upper-body injury.†Stepan had received an unpenalized slash on the hand from Islanders forward Matt Martin in the first period, but Vigneault said the extent of the injury won’t be known until Wednesday.

Stepan played just three shifts after the first period, the final when he turned the puck over on a second-period power play that resulted in Frans Nielsen’s shorthanded goal.

Should know more today. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

One would have to imagine if he was injured that badly then he would have never been on the bench and certainly not back on the ice.

Awaiting MRI results probably, great.

I kinda felt this loss and maybe a little losing streak coming. Not easy coming back from the West for a game at home against a good team. Its very hard in this league to continue winning at that clip. Its ok. Just hoping that there are no injuries in this next section of the schedule, including whatever this is.

Thats all well and good, but the rules here state that if he does have inside info, he needs to vet his sources with the moderators, and they make the decision on whether or not his info is valid or not.

That doesn't have to be bad, I mean, maybe they're just being cautious. I love how an Islanders goon injured him with no call, but we get called for most BS penalty ever.

The only thing that makes me suspect that it's his hand/wrist and not ribs is because of how soft he shot and passed the puck on that PP at the end of the 2nd last night...but whatever the injury is, hopefully it's not too serious.

Also the fact that he took a slash from Matt Martin, and when he got to the bench he was seen shaking his forearm/wrist/hand area.
