East of Toronto, Oshawa is Bruins town pretty much because of the Generals (Orr).

I don't wear my Leafs jersey there when I watch games with my in-laws and eat at Teddy's after because I don't want to get beat up.

No, its a pretty solid Leafs town, despite the B's history there.
Its pretty solid Blue & White. Never had a hassle walking around, gets lots of thumbs up.

Niagara peninsula is mostly Leaf fans but lots of Sabres fans.
London and west is mostly Leaf fans but lots of Wings fans and more so the closer you get to Detroit.
GTA. I would say a third of NHL fans are non-leaf fans.

Its 50/50 in Essex county, and I wouldn't say a 1/3, pretty high for the GTA.

I’m judging by the people I know. Now I am talking about true hockey fans not bandwagon fans. I mean fans who can name the third line, not just people who cheer come playoff time. I have a large group of friends and work at a business in the GTA that has its own arena that is better than most municipal rinks. Lots of hockey fans there and hockey fans I know and I would say 1/3 is reasonable. It could be 1/4 but not out of the question.
I was debating a good friend at work about this and we took our work friends and other friends and family and we counted something along the lines of 139 people we knew and there was over 50 non leaf fans. Doesn’t represent the whole but a pretty good example.

So my opinion is worthless because I omitted .4% of a fanbase?

My bad. Next time I will account for the tiny percentage of fans that may exist for each NHL team so as not to offend you.

And if you really think that Southern Wisconsin isn't Blackhawks territory, I have no idea what to tell you. The fact you are basing it off jerseys at Ads games is hilarious. That is Donald Trump "I couldn't have lost because I had more people at my rallies" level delusion.

Minimize and obfuscate, don't cite any possible facts. Good strategy, but a poor argument.

The fact that I have lived in southern Wisconsin for the last 40 years as a hockey fan made zero impression on you and your delusional opinion. I have probably attended over 1000 hockey games in the IHL, AHL, NCAA and NHL in 40 years.

My brother always said that you can't talk to fanatics. Apparently, he was correct.

North Central is Wild. The only reason Southern Wisconsin is Blackhawks is because people can reasonably get to a game. If you can't reasonably get to a game in the area you live in, you typically go with the team that you can most easily watch and that's the Wild.
I have family and friends all around up north and pretty much all are hawks fans or a random team like the penguins. I know the basic cable gets fox sports north but every bar has comcast Chicago and tons of cubs fans. Dont see any wild memorabilia anywhere.

Thanks to Tage the Sabres are the most popular team in Sub Sahara Africa.

Iowa was being questioned earlier and having spent a lot of time in Ames during college, I can say it’s not much of a hockey state. With sports in general, people gravitate towards any of Minnesota, Chicago, Greek Bay Packers, Kansas City or St. Louis teams.

Growing up in Minnesota, when the The North Stars left, people mostly became Red Wings, Dallas, and later, Colorado fans until the Wild came around. You’d come across the odd Chicago fan here and there but that was rare until their bandwagon got hot in the 2010’s.

Even if California really isn't much of a market for hockey, the Kings reign supreme in SoCal. Kings fans regularly invade Anaheim. Hell, I've seen a stronger presence of Vegas fans than Ducks fans.

I'd definitely amend some of the VAN/EDM/CGY dynamic, in a micro-scale.

There are a lot of parts of the southern BC interior that are de facto Flames country, or at least "contested territory". And there are parts of really Northern Alberta that seem weirdly split between Oilers and Canucks. Where part of the Canucks fan tendril seems to extend right up through BC out of Prince George and clip part of Alberta on the way to the Yukon and NWT.

I'd also say there are parts of "Atlantic Canada" that are pretty firmly Bruins entrenched. And other anglophone parts that are very clearly Maple Leafs-centric.

Outside of the NHL cities, I think most southerners are either hockey transplants or old enough to pre-date the southern teams. It isn't the regional affiliation that MLB, NBA, or NFL tend to be. Whenever I find a fan in Atlanta, they're as likely to be a Penguins fan as a Predators fan.

Got some Jets swag for a couple people in NWO a few years back. But then U also had a helicopter pilot from Thunder Bay who lived and breathed Detroit. Big patterns? No idea.

I call BS!

The fact that ZERO percent is allotted to Nashville above is proof that your opinion is worthless!

The Admirals average 5000 to 6000 fans a game. Probably 2000 of those are STH. There has to be 50% or more of those STH who are also Nashville fans, plus at least some (10% ?) of the others. Keeping in mind that the US has about 6% hockey fans, that makes 330,000 hockey fans in the state of Wisconsin. Some just follow the Badgers men's and/or women's teams. That makes a bare minimum of 0.4% Nashville fans that come solely from the Admirals fanbase. There would be some more Badgers fans that gravitate to the Ads and Preds because some of their alumni play or played for one or both of those teams. Kunin, Turris, John Byce, Craig Smith, Ryan Suter and Blake Geoffrion would be a few of them. We get some Badgers hockey jerseys over here in Milwaukee.

I do see a few Blackhawks jerseys at Admirals games. I see 4 or 5 Wolves jerseys at most games versus the Wolves. They outnumber the Hawks jerseys every time. I am friends with a DRW fan who comes to a game or two a season with me and wears his jersey. I don't know any Wild fans around here and don't recall the last time I saw one of their X-mas colored jerseys in Milwaukee. I do see a random Bruins or Pens jersey at games.
I'd agree that around the Milwaukee area (especially at an Admirals game) you'll find a strong following for the Preds.

South of Milwaukee - in both Racine and Kenosha - you'll find many Illinois transplants (hence the support for the Blackhawks/Bears/Cubs/etc)...It's like another Chicago suburb down there.

Alberta teams are a little tricky for their geography.

Red Deer is probably a near split, from my experience it's probably a bit more Oiler heavy than Calgary, South of there it's more Calgary, North of there it's more Edmonton. You can get Flames fans through a bit of the Kootenay's, as well as small pockets of S. Sask; Edmonton fans have a bit bigger range. Northern BC is heavily Oiler influenced. Reminder that when people outside of the geography think of BC, they think of Vancouver and the coast... Northern BC is not that  You'll find much more in common with Edmonton in Dawson Creek or Fort Nelson than you would with Vancouver; plus a lot of the dudes living out there were Northern Albertans to begin with.

Sask is pretty Oil heavy, this was probably further increased by their most recent prodigal son being drafted there and playing for a number of years.

Yes, I'd say it's the state of TN, plus central KY up to Bowling Green, north Alabama capturing the Huntsville market, Atlanta, I'm not sure how much of northern Mississippi is included, but there's not really a whole lot there anyway other than an extension of the Memphis market, I assume they show FS-TN there for the Grizzlies and the Preds are just lucky to be on the same channel.
Alabama all the way to Gulf Shores. We were down there during the playoffs 2 years ago and lots of Preds in the bars, merch in the stores too, in fact, Seaside has Preds gear, so that 30A run from Miss-Fla.

Buffalo isn't "upstate" at all. It's Western New York with the rest of the state being mixed between Montreal/NJ/NYI/NYR and then Boston/Pittsburgh to a much lesser extent.

New York State is quite large. Please stop thinking everything not NYC/LI is just Upstate and therefore Buffalo.

Funny to see this comment, just a couple of days ago a buddy of mine from Buffalo absolutely went off about people failing to understand that WNY and Upstate NY are different regions. Many f-bombs were dropped. Apparently this is a thing that grates the nerves of Buffalo ex-pats on a daily basis.
