Poor skating never stopped Derian Hatcher from being a top 3 Norris nominee..

But he obviously had talent many of today's top defensive prospects don't. That why he went very high in his draft year.

Trust me, I've never bought into anything he's ever said but big stay at home defensemen rarely are good or above average skaters. Nickerson, whether he's poor, average of above average in this regard should not have his upside questioned because of it.

I disagree. I think Nickerson's skating ability is a key part of his upside. Without it, he wouldn't be as effective IMO.
