Would be nice to see him in Rögle or Frölunda this season to play against men

One of the closest players to playing in the NHL, along with Leonard, from the 23’ draft, not named Bedard, Fantilli or Carlsson.
Likely one year back in Brandon, and then off to the NHL. He already has the size and core strength, and plays in traffic (at high speeds) as well as as Leonard and Carlsson, from the 23’ draft. He is also one of the few 23’ draft picks who already has an NHL game defensively. See Bedard’s comments… So he won’t be in the AHL very long, if at all. If his first step improves a little bit this year, he’ll be ready.
Detroit may want to see him play 50 or so games professionally against grown men before he makes the jump, but he’s well ahead of most prospects when it comes to the core issues of why young players are playing in the SHL/AHL. We may even get a good look at him playing against mature men this coming camp. If he has a good showing, followed by what should be a really big season in the WHL, there’s a good chance he plays some NHL games late in the season.
BTW, might be in his best interest, to ask for a trade out of Brandon, but that likely won’t happen until around December. The great thing about prospects like this is, where most draft +1 prospects are working on physical things, and learning to play D, and creating space, he can concentrate on his pure skills more.
Reminds me a lot of Couturier with a little more one on one skills at 18, but the size, strength, defensive game, and ability to create space at high speeds in traffic, there’s a reason a lot of teams had him rated so high. I remember Couturier going to camp his draft year and his play forcing the Flyers to keep him. While I don’t think that happens here, that’s a really good comparison player wise. Might not score a ton his first couple of years, but that’ll come as he matures.
That was fast. Is he showing signs in development camp that he could possibly make the team????
Interesting, but didn’t he just sign a contract to play for a professional hockey team?Okay, I found it in the WHL SPA. He is NOT eligible to play in Europe unless he is released by the league.

Yes, NHL is the exception. This is why they can't play in the AHL.Interesting, but didn’t he just sign a contract to play for a professional hockey team?
WHL this year and then top 6 in Grand Rapids next year would be my guess. I think that’s a good plan for him. Hopefully he gets traded to one of the better WHL teams for a deep playoff run.
Is he allowed to be loaned out over-seas?By signing a rookie who is 18 at the time the contract is executed, we can slide his ELC terms two times as long as he doesn’t play in ten NHL games in either season. This season Danielson can only play in the WHL or NHL. He could play nine games for us and then get sent back to the WHL.
The only thing I’m not sure about is if the second slide applies here because Danielson will have played four CHL seasons once this year ends, so next season he can play in the AHL. I don’t know if the second slide is applicable if a player is playing in the AHL but I assume it’s the case.
Is he allowed to be loaned out over-seas?
I don’t believe he can under the NHL/CHL agreement.
I think Detroit’s hope is Danielson has a big first half, gets a top six spot on the Canadian WJC and then is dealt to a contender so he can get a crack at the Memorial Cup.
No kidding.Would love to see a breakdown of how many years the SHL draft class has outperformed the WHL’s. I’ve got to imagine it’s actually pretty rare. Most overrated league on this board by a country mile.
BUT MEN!!!!No kidding.
People actually think sending a guy away from North American ice, giving him culture shock in a different country, and reducing his icetime in a league hes never played in is better than the WHL with a potential world junior and memorial cup for one season.
Seider turned out really well, not everyone needs to go play in Rogle because of that
Not to get WAY down into the weeds here, but there is a chance that the Wheat Kings younger players step up next year and they are not an offensive black hole. That's kind of the thing with these Major Junior, a lot can change year over year... because, they are kids.
Why would anyone get uneasy about your prospect playing with a better teammate and showing evidence of being capable of more surrounded by better talent? That sounds like the better outcome than for him to flounder with a bunch of hacks limiting his performance. Not to mention it may inflate his stats more and give us false hope.
I think his offensive ability is there but I hate getting my hopes up for prospects now. It is just a recipe for full-on unhappiness.
Honestly, after I hit send, I was thinking well in this case benson could unlock danielson in other parts of his offensive game. But I already hit send so just said fuc* it.Why would anyone get uneasy about your prospect playing with a better teammate and showing evidence of being capable of more surrounded by better talent? Yes, everything is lost, the draft was a flop, let´s sell off everyone and start from zero again.3 years is a little steep for a kid who has never played in the league. Maybe the Yzerplan is failing
