Dose Gary Bettman & the NHL. BOG. have no shame by continuing market Arizona as good hockey market when they consistently lose hundreds of millions dollars each year no matter how hard they try nothing seems to work & some how they have the gull & nerve to continue to threaten & consistently criticize Canadian teams for some short falls for example the arena deal falling through in Calgary for now & it goose to show you the NHL. has no problem moving a team as long it is a Canadian team & not American team & that Canadian team moves to the USA.

The NHL. is Anti Canadian & if the NHL. could get away with it they force 5 out the 7 Canadian teams to move to USA. leaving only the Montreal & Toronto in Canada .

Do I it right that the Coyotes are paying:
1- For all of the construction costs?
2- For all 3 years immediately?

1- All the added construction costs yes.
2- The lease costs for years 1-3 I believe so. What those costs amount to IDK. Year 4 is an option and ASU has approval for allowing that if needed.

No need to.

Coyotes get max rev sharing now… and going to ASU does nothing to change that.

MLSE is going to charge what they do for tickets because people are willing to pay what they demand.

Would actually reduce Toronto’s contribution to revenue sharing if Arizona pulls in less revenue next season vs this season. Revenue sharing is set as a fixed % of total HRR.

If HRR increases Toronto contributes more. If HRR decreases Toronto contributes less.

Couldn't generate fans in Phoenix...

Couldn't generate fans in Glendale...

Play at a 5,000 seat arena in Tempe...

???

Profit!

Jesus Christ. End the f***ing experiment in Phoenix. This should cost Bettman his job.

Move the team temporarily to Houston (Toyota Center) or to KC (T-Mobile Center) and have buyers bid for the team. This is so f***ing stupid.

NHL isn't moving the team even temporary... Bettman isn't going anywhere.. Give it a rest.

As promised.......

Cliff's Notes from Craig Morgan's Q&A with ASU Executive Vice President, Treasurer and CFO Morgan Olsen:

-- Accelerated talks began in December 2021, but there had been some communication between ASU and Coyotes prior.
(Olsen indicated Coyotes were also working on other alternatives prior to December 2021)
-- ASU views this as a big plus for them from getting national exposure.
-- ASU built the facility not just for school teams but other uses and the Coyotes are one such usage.
-- ASU's logo will be at center ice, but details still being worked on in regards to rest of advertising etc.
-- Coyotes will get game day revenue, merch revenue, game day sponsorships, and share of game day concession revenue. ASU will have their logos on things and that will go to ASU.
-- Parking revenue goes to ASU. But.... Coyotes may get some premium parking income for suite/prime glass seat customers. Still being worked on.
-- Arena capacity is not finalized. Additional camera angles required for the NHL might eliminates some seating but they don't anticipate it taking many out.
-- All the negative press around the Coyotes is "water under the bridge". ASU and the Coyotes have worked out terms ASU is satisfied doesn't add any risk to them.
-- Optional fourth year in lease has been pre-approved by the ABOR and at ASU's discretion.

-- Arena construction is currently ahead of schedule. Possibly looking at an October opening, but ASU is taking a casual approach and not pressing for it.
On playing games at the arena before the Coyotes' annex is completed (est.: Dec 2022), Olsen indicated they are looking into that, and could work out something that would satisfy all parties (league, PA, etc.)

Arizona State will take precedence on all schedules. ASU will retain name and sponsorship rights. The Coyotes will only have game-day revenue.

This is going to be headache as college hockey schedules are usually not formalized until late summer.

I just don't get it.

ASU's men's hockey schedule is already set for next year.

They were already doing seat selection for STHs last month.

National exposure? They'll be lucky to get more than a single home game on cable per year for the next four years.

If you haven’t noticed. It’s being written about all over the US and Canada now.

The arena is getting its ice system upgraded to NHL standards. Video/media systems upgraded and support facilities.

Think Frozen Four within the next four years.

My earlier prediction was that they will be in the same situation this time next year. Playing at ASU while still trying to hammer out an agreement for Tempe
It's not gonna happen, it's setting a precedent. Now any team owner can "temporarily" move into a shoe box and save absurd amounts of money. He's incentivizing team owners to sell their arena's, rent them from the new buyers for a later kick out date.

The biggest damage is that it'll create division amongst the owners and players.

Revenue sharing works and avoids gridlock as long as profit and stability are central principle.

A team being a completely unstable wildcard in terms of location and revenue is not either of those.

With Vegas-Seattle playing in the pacific timezone, and Arizona playing in the central, you more or less have proof that the team is no longer needed.

Team owners are not going to sell their arenas and go to a shoe box. You can whine all you want but the reality is the NHL does not want to be in Quebec city. Maybe you can think of the sens moving there.

if this happens the sens will never ever ever leave the city.

TD Place Arena - Wikipedia

They have a 10,000 seater in the perfect location.

They'll be moving there in the next 2 years (temporarily, while the new arena is being constructed/or the old one is being "renovated").

A 10,000 seater would probably be far more sustainable at this point. They could easily charge 50% more per ticket.

Are you talking about ASU playing in a Frozen Four in the next four years or hosting a Frozen Four? Playing in one, I'd could see it as this could help recruiting. Hosting won't happen as all hosts have been announced through 2026. Not sure when future hosts are announced, but shovels will need to be in the ground for the Coyotes arena to serve as hosts.

Did you miss the memo that this is only a temporary solution until their new arena is built?
