Footprint would be a lot less embarrassing than ASU though and wouldn't have the horrible optics that this debacle has.

Why not? A temporary stay elsewhere made the NBA aware of a untapped market. Why would the NHL not want similar?

The NBA thing only happened due to Hurricane Katrina. NHL isn't going to force the owner play in another market just for a few years nor can the NHL actually force AM to move even temporary. If the team moves cause AM sells and NO one else wants to own it in Arizona and when both of those things happen, the team is gone permanently.

Optics are the least of his worries. Only people who seemed embarrassed are fans and writers from certain markets who have zero skin in the game.

The mayor of Tempe was asked point blank if Meruelo's situation with Glendale would make a difference in how Tempe would treat his arena proposal. He said no. They will evaluate the proposal on its own merits. Biggest issue being the part of the proposal that calls for $200 million bonds to cover infrastructure and other associated costs and how it will be paid back.

why was New Orleans unavailable, should be the realistic answer, what would happen if Washington had to be relocated short-term to another market, then they end up there permanently, Cynicaps, would you still support the Capitals anywhere other than DC

An 'Update' that the logo will be on centre ice?

So as of yesterday it wasn't certain? Looks like Strang's piece helped influence the powers that be to get it done.....all the parties should be greatful now :D

No Strang mistook "The Coyotes are prohibited from including any of their other normal in-ice branding" to include no center ice logo. Had she even bothered to contact ASU before coming out with another trash piece on the yotes, they would have told her that the yotes logo will be on the Center ice.

It was reported as part of the deal way back when it was first signed that both team identities would be featured at center ice. This is a prime example of media taking any opportunity to jump on the coyotes without actually doing any actual fact-checking, and it all goes back to Strang and the Athletic's disingenuous and biased reporting.

Except it was already done and published long before Strang and Shapiro dropped their article.

I think a very public apology to the market and the fans is in order.

Well, it was enough to get their attention to address it.

Hopefully the part of the Good Behavior clause is enough to get the team's attention too. Getting a temporary place to bridge from another temporary place won't be a good look

Maybe so.

Though I do find the difference in local reaction to her writing fascinating.

About a month ago she writes a piece going after the inner workings in Ottawa and covered from gruesome stuff..... another tire fire franchise

Aside from the timing of it as it was a few weeks after his death, I find the concesus among Sens fans is gratitude for bringing these to light :D

Like thelegend said the all the terms and what not that Strang was trashing the team over were already set in place long before that article came out. If they bothered to actually read that agreement assuming it was publically or ask ASU themselves they would have told them as such. Those two didn't want to ask ASU/read since it defeats their purpose of trashing the team.
