GUYS, I HAVE AN IDEA!!!!

What if we ALL run for offices in and around Ottawa. The Sens section of HFBoards can run the city, and then we can just give Melnyk the Casino.

He should run from one side of the country to the other collecting donations for the cure of the poor ownership of the Ottawa Senators.

The best thing would to have a whole entertainment complex where fans could spend a couple hours before and after the game, or for a weekend game, the whole day. This would include a casino, obviously, but also:

- Munich-style beer hall.
- Movie theatre.
- Paintball.
- A proper Ottawa Senators/City of Ottawa museum.
- Clubs.
- Mall (you wouldn't believe how far some idiots travel just to shop).
- Shisha bar.
- Etc.

Ideally, the whole complex would be connected by its own monorail system that would bring people to and from the different venues and the outer parking lots. Great deals could be offered combining multiple venues and activities, thereby encouraging people to blow more of their money. ;)

I'm not entirely joking. There needs to be things that will make any kind of fan willing to spend a good day or half-day around the game. It needs to be about more than just the game.

Hmmm what I'd he builds a nuclear power plant in Ottawa then a builds giant disc to block the sun so we will have to use his electricity and reap all the profit.

Sell shares in the team for 200 dollars each, sort of like the packers do

The great thing about this is that the Packers let it be known that yes, you are buying a share of the team, but in no way are you allowed any voice in how the team is run.
It really is just a ploy to collect extra money from fans, and each time the put shares up for sale, they sell like hot cakes.

Also, I think most recently the shares for the Packers were $275 a pop.

It's a pretty interesting idea.

If Euge made a promise that all funds raised would go directly to the team, I bet you'd see a fair amount of sales.

It would be pretty neat to say that you own a share of the Senators.

Put 10,000 shares up for sale, at say $150 per. $1.5M right there.

Unrelated, but anyone else hearing rumours that Cdn Tire is looking to buy into the Sens as a part owner? I have literally nothing to base it on other than rumblings I'm hearing around town, so take it with a grain of salt for sure.
Having a strong corporate owner (as long as they don't get more than 49%) coupled with the passion of the Euge would be good news for the franchise.

One can only dream.

Bryan Murray's management skills with an unlimited supply of cash? Yes please!

How about free parking for a car with 4 or more people inside?

It could solve a few problems.

Over-congestion of the parking lot. It means a bit less money in the org's pocket from parking revenue, but it could help curb everyone's issue with getting in and out of there.

Same thing goes for general traffic getting to and leaving the game.

The cost of losing that extra parking revenue per car could be offset by more people drinking at the game, or groups of 2/3 recruiting extra friends to join them and buy a ticket.

You could get some positive publicity calling it a 'green' initiative, maybe?

I bet it would be a net positive for the club. Probably not enough to make a real difference though.

Make the land the CTC is on a native reserve. This opens many new tax exempt possibilities, PLUS he could build a gas station and smoke shop to open new revenue streams.

I wonder how much he makes off the contracts he has with beer and food companies?

I'm just thinking that:
Instead of pizza pizza, they had Gabriel's or Milano's (ya know, good pizza).
Instead of the crappy Molson products, they get a bunch of different beer types.

It seems to me that all the longest lines for food are at the smaller, local franchises (smoked meat, poutine, sushi, etc).

They may lose on the contract revenue from the bigger franchises, but sales will definitely go up.

Also, make the prices at the Sens store comparable to those at all the other sporting stores. I can understand if they are a bit higher (for the convenience), but unless something is on sale, the prices aren't even close to what you would get if you go to a regular sports store.

On top of that, since they have a hard time selling suites - our company got one, once, and we get emails all the time about them. How about if you spend more than a certain amount (say $200) at the Sens store, you go into a draw for a suite? If they are going to sit empty, anyways, may as well 'give them away' to people who buy stuff at the Sens store. You may encourage sales at the store, and at the very least the people in the empty suite will buy food and drinks.

Edit: One more idea.. make standing room $10 per game. And since he owns capital tickets, waive the stupid ticket fee (which is around $8 per ticket. Right now, it's around $25 + ticket fees and taxes. Standing room is NEVER full. Generally, no one is up there. Why not set it at a price that is basically going to give it away. You'll get a bunch of younger people, who will spend their money on beer and food. In the end, you'll make more on parking and concessions just by giving those away.

Another great idea. Melnyk also owns Bert's at the CTC, and it's always dead during the game (no one goes there just to eat and watch the game - why would you pay parking to go to Bert's and not the game?).

During games that aren't sell outs, do a draw every period for free tickets to get inside. If you buy a meal and/or drink, you get a raffle ticket into the draw. Start it when the puck drops, so you know people aren't doing it just to upgrade their seats.

Once the game starts, whatever standing room 'seats' are still left at the end of the 2nd, give them away to half the bar to go watch the 3rd. You may actually get people going to Bert's who don't have tickets to the game.
