I like how he acknowledges the jokes about "two weeks", then immediately gives another two week timeline. You are ****ing killing me, Anthony.

Fun fact: when you play on career mode in this year's EA sports video game, it now has a franchise relocation option. Just bought the game today, I haven't even gotten through preseason yet, but I'll let you know how it works in a couple weeks.

I had never yawned while simultaneously rolling my eyeballs until LeBlanc started giving us new arena updates. It's my new signature move. I call it "The Tony".

I have built a few small businesses in my day, and they even take a long time, so I understand the work and time needed for such a large development. TL mentioned it is a real estate development, so expect more than just the arena when the announcement is made.

I wonder why NONE of the talking sports heads NEVER pressure/question Tony L about the delay in announcing arena news and that impacting/hurting ticket sales??

He's still not talking about securing funding or designs or any of that. It's always talk of a location, and that they've possibly got the location. They missed their big window to have an impact on ticket and sponsorship sales this season so I'm going go with "they've got nothing" as a pretty safe bet at this point.

Opening night IS a good night to announce though.
An additional way to fill the seats.
That will make for an exciting night.

"Buy a ticket to opening night so you can be there in person when we make the announcement" is an odd angle. Not sure why you'd want to upstage the first game of the year.

I'm hoping that the funding is secure and the only sticking point is the location, and that the funding is contingent on certain location(s), which is why things are being kept so quiet.

Occam's razor points to "they've got nothing" though. With each passing week, Tony LeBlanc just sounds more and more like a con man.

I have started hearing buzz from a couple of strange sources lately, things like "my friend in *commercial real estate* says...". It's different this time.

Unless of course, it isn't.

He should start making update tweets on the location. Every couple of days, post something like "8 more days 'til..." Then, once it's a few days away, start going the other way:

10/11 "4 more days 'til the big announcement, buy tickets now!"

10/12 "3 more days 'til special news is released! Season tickets still available!)

10/13 "2 more days 'til the future is revealed! Are you ready for hockey in the desert? Get your merchandise now!"

10/14 "3 more days 'til an excellent update! fanware going fast! buy yours today!"

10/15 [no tweets]

10/16 "4 more days 'til new arena location is revealed. We have tix!"

Maybe the reason why Rieder hadn't signed and stayed in Toronto was to get him to steal all of the Maple Leafs money to pay for our arena.

LeBlanc: arena announcement very close and will include "community rink aspect"

As Morgan tweeted

Also building a ball hockey pad at the Luke Air Force Base. Proj costs $200k, to be completed by January, as per team release.

Huh? It doesn't even mean anything anymore.

It's not an announcement until I see a render, there's no legal hurdles to clear, financing is secured, and dirt starts moving.
