The players Detroit wanted to include were useless, and the Coyotes thought the same the way it looks, so why waste a contract or two.

My thought now that I think of this more.

We could have taken advantage , but for a new gm tryign to form relationships , I think it was a good trade for both teams , we dont lose anythig. By taking the contract.

I can see the deal of 20-53 for 16 being good, however taking dats for for pretty much nothing is bogus.

Mantha/dats/16 in exchange for vitale/20/53 would have been a hell of a lot better.

They don't usually insure cheap players like that. So it's probably real money.

Lots acting like the Coyotes are the only team that could have taken the Datsyuk contract. Several teams could have so its not like Chayka held all the cards. I really like the aggressiveness to grab a top 10 ranked dman that they were high on. I'd guess 53rd picks are a hug crapshoot with somewhat limited NHL success. And still have 37. I'm very happy with today. Well done young man.
