Been cutting my own hair since the 90's, its so simple to do, and saves me time and $$. In the early years of doing it, I made some really bad mistakes, grooves when I forgot I didnt have a guard on. But now I think I can cut my hair better than I get it cut at a salon, and for $35 cheaper.

Working from home for the past 2 months, I decided to try cutting it differently, if I screwed it up no one would see it. I watched some youtube vids, and well, it actually turned out really good, and I kinda wish I changed it up years ago.

Nows the time to try doing it yourself, assuming you are not working publicly at the moment.

I was thinking of cutting my own hair, but I don't want to go into hiding for 2 months. Just a couple mistakes, and you'll look foolish, until you get the hang of it.

Nonsense. Cut your hair badly enough and people will just assume you are either a celebrity, or a tenured professor at the U of M.

I hung out with a friend for the first time today since the first week of March. We had passed by each other's houses to say hi through the window a couple of times under lockdown, but today we actually got to walk around a park and then watch a movie together at home. Despite living alone I handled the lockdown well and kept up and socialising via video, but it was so great to spend time with someone side by side rather than face to face. The acts of walking with someone, organic conversation, and showing simple hospitality were all so refreshing. I plan on keeping my circle small while we navigate this next stage but boy is it nice to feel a little more human again.

This isn't really related to COVID, but I think it's good news nonetheless. The cost of solar is rapidly falling - and cheap, clean energy is good news (even though it is probably bad news for Alberta and Canada in terms of energy exports).

Also, keep knocking on wood and keep taking precautions, but Manitoba has put together three straight days without reporting a new case.

Edit: In fact, there has only been one case outside the Paul's Hauling cluster in Brandon over the last two weeks:

That is great news! If no one went in and out of Manitoba we’d be golden! But unfortunately that’s how spread will continue down the road. It sure feels like we’re months ahead of other provinces!

One of the things I find exciting is the growth of Solar, Wind, and Battery. There total market share although small proportionally has been growing exponentially. The progression of renewables is an inevitable march that will be fun to watch over the next 20 years.

Most forecasts I have seen even by the renewables Hawks has Oil being a major player for a while. The key for me though is there is no way I would do any major investment in Oil infrastructure with an amortization past a 20 year horizon.

There will be a tipping point for Oil and what does the downslope look like.......a hill or a mountain?

Have we collectively given up on the return of hockey? Here we all are with not much to do but post on HFBoards and this place is pretty dead.

Not very positive post for the positivity thread, I know. Sorry. But thought it should be in a Covid-19 related thread. This is the only one of those I haven't put on ignore.

The positivity is that there is no need to reply to this post. Go and post something about hockey on any hockey thread instead. See if you can start a conversation about hockey.

I had a friend who kind of went off the rails after the 2008 economic downturn - he became convinced that we'd hit Peak Oil and the days of plentiful cheap energy were over. Furthermore, he believed the relative cheapness of energy was the only thing that drove economic growth from 1983 into the 2000s and now that it was gone forever, we were heading for a dark age. I tried to convince him that technology was the force multiplier and the price of energy wasn't an issue (and also that every time oil hits $100 bbl, human ingenuity figured out how to get stuff previously thought inaccessible - and then economies of scale drive the cost of recovering that oil to more reasonable prices).

Anyway, he quit a pretty sweet job to go live off the land and prepare for the dark age.

I still believe in the power of human ingenuity - as I said a couple of months ago when the COVID shit started to hit the fan: we just need to keep our healthcare system from being overwhelmed while humanity gets its act together. The curve-flattening has gone better than I'd expected so far. The getting-the-act-together seems to be coming along too. And on the other side of this, $0.05/kWh solar! ;)

We are obviously in unprecedented times and I think the next 6 to 12 months could be really ugly. Conversely I believe between now and 2030 we will see the greatest growth in the history of the modern economy.

The convergence and more importantly the exponentially accelerating growth of all the technologies above is going to transform the world as we know it and this is the decade of the most radical transformation IMO.

I find the players are going to be refreshed within their personal lives going into the next season, if there is one. Wheeler seems happy in the most recent interview with Darren Dreger, looks to be in Florida.

16 cases in Manitoba where social distancing is working along with other precautions, meanwhile to the south of us in North Dakota 43 NEW cases just yesterday alone for a total of 2400, but yeah open North Dakota, nothing to see there right!:sarcasm:
