I am relaxed again thanks for the LOL’s. He’s still a fast player. I watch almost every game and using the numbers he played about 70% of the time in the top 6 last season. He was 4th in forwards for ES ATOI (on the Pens) so you’re story doesn’t check out. Facts don’t care about your fantasy team anecdote.

If you don’t think think he’s a good fit fine and he might not be but your making up stuff like suggesting he played the majority on the third line or he’d be the slowest Av player. You do still have his former teammate Ian Cole (that I’ve seen a lot) yeah who he’d burn in a foot race.

"But if we dig a little further into his numbers, he was worth less than half of a win according to WAR at Evolving Hockey. That’s because he took lots of penalties last year and he isn’t much of a play driver at even strength. In fact, he was one of the fifty worst defensive players in the entire NHL last season by expected goal impact and his offensive play driving didn’t do enough to compensate for that"

The Phil Kessel Situation: When new metrics challenge what we thought we knew

Quick little search for the reason I don't see a fit for the price asked and him in our system. Sorry I offended you though

I’m not offended but thanks though. As a Pens fan I’m happy to move on from him because I think both parties need a fresh start. He was more a negative to us last season. Not 100% his fault but he needs to own it.

I wasn’t suggesting it’s a good deal for the Av’s or if he’s a good fit because I don’t know. There’s some teams that might not benefit (Av’s maybe one) but others are interested. The complication is some have cap problems and others Phil would have to agree to waive his M-NTC.

All of the massive Kessel drama aside, he simply is the opposite of what the Avs need and it isn't a good fit. Colorado is looking for young players who can fit in with their core, and play strong 5v5 minutes with limited special teams time, so its pretty easy to see why an old PP specialist wouldn't be a good fit on a team where he wouldn't be used there.

Especially when that cap could be better used on a UFA player who would be a fit for them.
Typical HF, the love for the eternal rebuild. I hate the Avs but they are in a position to be Cup contenders and fans are still looking for potential players when they should be looking for good players now and trying to win.

Yeah I'd take Kessel but not for kaut or Jost +1st. Kaut is having one hell of a development camp and I like his upside + ELC years, Jost cost controlled and still has alot of upside aswell. Kessel would be a luxury but I don't think he'd keep up with anyone to be completely honest lol. Might be good to have set up on the pp.
One hell of a development camp? Lol development camps arent evaluation camps. These kids spend more time learning how to cook and take care of themselves with out mommy and daddy.

Kessel spent a majority of his ES time in the top 6. Malkin was his most common line mate. If you don’t like the proposal fine but why make **** up.

Kessel’s slow and would be the slowest player on the Av’s. Thanks for the laugh. Kessel has been in the All Star fastest skater contest before. They don’t ask slow guys. His time was 13.596 for context McDavid won this year with 13.378.

The fastest skater competition is kind of a joke. It doesn't in any way represent speed in a game. Yes, this is a tangent. This should be blue line to blue line. Speed in hockey is more about bursts of speed over short distances.

It’s fine and mostly accurate to say Kessel might not fit into a team’s structure because he’s more of a rogue player that has almost zero willingness to play on the wall and he dogs it on the backcheck at times (some nights he goes Insta-Hossa when he wants though).

That’s precisely why Sullivan can’t stand him.

However, anyone calling him slow makes you look quite silly. He can still fly, but he was never a guy that would dip his shoulder and take the puck to the net with his speed.

Ugh.

'Our 2020 first is off the table for this PPG winger making less than market value for three more years!'

Your best forwards are aged 26, 23 and 22.

You have not one, but TWO blue chip top-5 D prospects in the entire league.

You just got Byram and Newhook.

Sign your UFA and RFA (Rantanen, Zadorov, Burakovsky, Kerfoot, Compher, ???) you'll still have cap space.

I don't think Kessel is the player here but check before you wreck. I think Zucker would be both cheaper and a better fit.

I often think if a poll was made here, '2019-20 Stanley Cup Champions vs. An extra 15th-20th overall pick for the next three years' the results would be frighteningly close...

Kauts been playing pro for awhile lol. I love that you took one little sentence out of a complete argument as to why I wouldn't trade our prospects for Phil lol.
