that is one of the strongest forward groups i've seen, you'll have no problem scoring goals.

Total Cap Hit - 56.125

We made some moves that we feel will help us in the short term without screwing ourselves for the long term. We feel Horcoff will excel in a non hockey market as a second line center. We feel with a little less weight on his shoulders he will be a great contributer. In the same sense we picked up Cheechoo as we feel a change of scenery will be just what he needs. He will be playing with a game changing player in Ribeiro and we hope that Cheechoo will find the back of the net again. We still have great prospects like Vishnevsky, Despres and Helgeson on the back end. We also still have Colton Sceviour, Ryan O'Reilly, Tyler Shelast, Sergei Korostin, Raymond Sawada and Pertuu Lindgren up front. If you are interested in many of my role players that I dont have a spot for I am looking for defensive prospects.

I like your top 3 centers. But I find Cheechoo on the first line could be risky. You cant be sure with him. As for your defense it seems to have gotten a little weaker and more offensive. But other than that looks like a good team that the stars would be able to compete with effectively. And i prefer kostopo over Kopecky. But i could just be speeking from a habs point of view :D But i like kostopos hard work!

we were able to add some grit on the defense and shed some contracts that held us back... may have overpaid for a player or two, but are happy with having cap room if need be and the roster we currently have.

I like how you didnt break up either richards or carter from your line up. Alot of GM games the GM usually trys to trade one of them in a big deal to add depth. But you didnt have to. As for Higgins thats great and all but he usually plays the wing. He started his career as a center and developped more into a winger. Brisebois was by far your worst mistake at least hes just a back up :P Although Komisarek wanted alot if he has a better season next season then he did this one it could be a very effective get and possibly a top pairing player. And i like Khabi in nets. But its iffy with him as well.

thanks for the good words... i could move higgins to the wing with powe on the same line so i'll remember that... khabi is dependable, only thing with him is age and i took on his contract... komi paired with coburn is a nice sized pair on can hit the other can move the puck ya know

Yeah Cheechoo is a bit of a risk but I think he'd have a lot of pressure off of him in Dallas. I would tell him to just go out there and bang bodies and just play your game, Ribeiro will distribute the puck evenly(as Morrow isnt a sniper) and to not worry about scoring goals. Just bang bodies and the goals are bonus.
As for Kostopo I like him too and would expect for him to compete Kopecky for that spot. But Kopecky I think coming from Detroit and wanting a shot would work just as hard. And with the fact that he is 27 and in his prime years I feel he would fit well with the boys adn then we could roll 4 lines all with the capabilities of banging bodies and putting the puck in the net.
I like my defence because all LD's shoot left and all RD's shoot right. Daley and Gilbert are both two way defencemen imo. Fistric is a physical stay at home dman(although he almost matched his season total in points in the playoffs which is always nice to see. Like Eaton I think for Pitt who has 4 goals in this playoffs) and Eminger is the offensive dman. As for grossman I see him as a defensive dman with limited offensive upside and Niskanen as the offensive defenceman. Hopefully he can improve on last years play because Vishnevskiy is knocking on the door.

The only thing I didnt like with your roster is Pyatt at 2 mill. I felt I had overpayed for Larose at 2 mill. I compared him and the contract I wanted to give him to Burrows. Burrows got 4years 2 mill per and put up good numbers. Better than Pyatt and LaRose thats for sure. Yet I still had to pay the same price.

Eh man I dont care. I tried offering LaRose a 4 year deal worth 7 million. I broke it down to 1.2 1.5 1.8 and 2.5 which I mean he gets a pay rais of 300,000 each year except for when he gets a raise of 700,000. Whatever I guess 2 mill is the going rate for a third line winger and theres no bargaining. I like Pyatt as a player. Good role player. Plays third line a little PK and when the boys are sturggling he'll play a little PP. But 2 mill is just a little much. But I digress it is after all just a mock game.

wow

what if detroits loses now ... tee hee

good player to get though...

My Tampa team is going to be very strong so Hossa will get another shot, especially as Kadri, Stamkos, Hedman et al mature.

Once all my signings are done, I'll post my lineup.

I also sent Jarmac real estate listings for mansions on the beach in Tampa and explained that the no personal income tax makes his contract that much better.

I'm surprised that Gaborik didn't sign here. The difference was 250K a year and the tax difference would more than make up for it. Plus, if he's an LA kind of guy, surely he'd love the climate of Tampa more than Vancouver. Ah well, its your loss Gabo, enjoy the media tearing you to shreds when you next get injured! :p:

The Lightning are excited to announce that they have come to terms with phenom defenceman Victor Hedman on a 3 year deal. The deal has a base salary of $825K per season that also includes bonuses that could stretch inflate the contract to $3.5 million per.

In addition, Eric Fehr has agreed to terms on a two year extension for $1M per season.

Gaborik probably wanted to play for a contender.. Which, given my line up, is exactly what Vancouver will be next season.
