Obviously I'm a big fan of this guy. Glad he got a contract. Expect him to spend the majority of the time in the AHL, 100% an AHL defenseman.

Will be cool to "see" Davidsson and Bemstrom play on the same team, and probably on the PP together at the very least.
This is not intended as snarky at all: is it obvious?

Unless the defensive injuries continue to pile up all year, I'm not sure how much playing time Wade would get in Cleveland. Austin will probably hang around for awhile on a PTO, at least while all of Carlsson, Clendening, Kukan, and Harrington are in Columbus. I don't think Collins or Siebenaler will amount to much of anything, but they are other RHD Wade would be competing with for CLE's bottom 2 pairings that the organization still seems to think could be something. Somerby is also a big former-NCAA defensive defenseman that'll compete for time. I think Prapavessis, Cross, Clendening, Carlsson, Simpson, and Austin (while he's with the team) are better players right now.

In the big picture, I don't know how well any team would do playing Somerby, Wade, and Collins at the same time. I can see Wade spending a good chunk of the year in the ECHL to get playing time rather than rotating in and out of the Monsters' lineup.

Attended practice yesterday, here were the forward groups (based on jersey colors):

Wine - DiSalvo, Vigneault, Scott, Gallant
Royal Blue - MacInnis, Robinson, Sherwood, Thurkauf
Grey - Broadhurst, Gerbe, Stenlund
White - Dalpe, Letestu, Abramov
Powder Blue - Koules, Vogelhuber, Bittner, Fortier

The Wine, Royal Blue, and Grey groups were out on the ice early (except for Gallant and Thurkauf)
Korostelev did not skate (did not get there early enough to see if he skated in a red jersey before practice)

Defense pairings were changing constantly (no real insight on pairings for tomorrow night's opener).

I will be at both games this weekend and will report back on anything of note.

Here's a good source for lines/defensive pairs (from pre-game warm-ups):

Between the 29 players and the day game following a night game, look for significant differences in who dresses for the first two games.

I love that 3rd line. I don't love MacInnis in any kind of offensive role.

That 3rd d pair could get rough.
