I'm not real happy with this signing. Not a real scoring machine, not physical, not a defensive specialist just everything 'Meh'.

I'll make a prediction that this guy won't be with the team for the full 2 years. Either gone next off-season or at the trade line in a year and a half.

Yip, I was way off as well. That's why I don't work for any NHL team.

Good for 15-20 goals, good signing for a second liner. Still need a first line winger though.

A little off on the goal totals but this was a pretty solid signing, although was surprised some were hating on him.

So much hate at the start of this thread, and so much love for Mac now.

Good job Clarke. Silence the nay-sayers.

I wasn't mad but Mac definitely exceeded my expectations big time.

This makes sense as a replacement for Latendresse, but if we do nothing else today we are in serious trouble.

At the end of the day this ends up looking like a decent signing. But man, at the start of the day it looked kinda sad. No, he isn't an Alfredsson replacement, but in terms of pure points he'll probably be good for about the same as our 41yr old former captain.

I bet no one on the planet was more relieved to hear that Bobby Ryan had signed with Ottawa than Clarke MacArthur after hearing Alfredsson signed with Detroit. That would have been one hell of a burden to bear for a former Leaf to replace Alfie in this town. And as it turns out MacArthur will now play on a 2nd line likely with Turris & hopefully have a productive season & not have to worry about the Alfie comparisons.

:handclap:

Don't see any prediction there on the player. Just where he will play, which was pretty obvious after the Ryan signing.

But I also didn't say that it was a terrible signing. I thought it was a decent signing & he had been a decent player throughout his career & he exceeded my expectations of him.

I thought he would be more of a tweener bouncing around the lines, but he's a legit top 6 forward for sure. I like these trial runs Bmurray likes to do as well. See if a guy fits before you hand him a Clarkson contract and be stuck with expensive dead weight for a long time.
