All I know is I'd break up the first line and move Kelly to the 4th. Either switch Iggy and Loui or call up Spooner.

If only Soderberg and Smith could play with someone who had a bit of an offensive game. At this point in his carer Kelly is more suited for the 4th line.

You may have to wait 'till next season for this scenario. Campbell's contract obligation is over. Kelly would be a natural for that slot.

Can you imagine a B's top nine including Krejci, Lucic, Bergeron, Eriksson, Marchy, Carl, Smitty, Spooner and Iggy (assuming he re-signs)?

I would sit Kelly and Marchand in the box for a night or two, but we know CJ wouldn't mess with his binky Kelly.

Let's be honest people, both Smith and Soderberg have carried that line (Kelly hasn't shown much, surprise surprise).

Exactly. There are plenty of other sub par games from him where you can point to why you don't want Kelly on the third line anymore...:naughty:

It was the little things from Kelly last night that you could only pick up from watching the game. Short circuiting an odd man rush by putting an uncontested pass into Smith's skates, muffing an easy pass on the tape of his stick that let to a PK. Stuff he really did poorly that won't show up in the stat sheet. This was all in the first period before the game got away from the Bruins mind you. Two games in a row where he's been a pylon defensively. 2 separate Detroit writers on Twitter used the word embarrassed to describe what Tatar did to him at center ice on the 2nd goal.

Seriously? Kelly is one of the reasons Yeti and Smitty have found their offensive game. He is often the guy who starts the play leading to the scoring chance/goal. It doesn't show up on the stat sheet of course so naturally people use that against him.

He doesn't need to be scratched. He's playing better hockey than Marchand. Marchand is the issue and has been all season.

Do you actually watch games because your assessment is absolutely false.

Just about everything you posted here applies to every other player on the team roster last night except for Rask, who had his own set of complications to deal with. To harp on Kelly for his play last night is quite silly.

Bergy had 0 as well....2+ mins on the PP...defensive wizard....maybe we should ship him out too:sarcasm:

Marchand is THE issue right now

Keyword being "another". The inability to get his shot off has been trend for the past two years.

For me it's not about shipping anybody out (well, other than Caron). I still believe all of his defensive and faceoff value can be retained while playing on the 4th line.

This is the Chris Kelly thread no? Plenty of criticism to go around for the other players in the GDT.

Sure this is the Kelly thread; however, I just don't see the point of slamming one guy for something everyone else is also guilty of, even though this is his thread. I guess it would be something else if the team played outstandingly and somehow Kelly stood out as the sole negative, but that was clearly not the case. Not last night. Passes into skates, muffing passes, defensive pylon -- all issues on display by all players last night.

There are lots of things Chris Kelly does that isn't reflected on the score sheet -- intangibles, anyone? -- and are unique to him as a player with the Bruins. This thread would probably be better served if the focus was there, although I think that list is short and somewhat insignificant.

I don't know about that, Bergeron has been terrible too. I know we're not supposed to criticize Bergy, but he's pointless in his last 6 games and he's had shifts, even late in the Pittsburgh game, where the drive to get back and defend hasn't been there.

Marchand has 3pts in his last 6, Eriksson has something like 10 in his last 10, so we can't keep blaming Bergeron's line mates for his lack of production. The team's got a great spot in the standings and I'm thankful for that, but the "Bergeron" line has played well below their capabilities, to a man.
