Good deal all around. I know it is a bargain, but it is also basically at the high end of where I would have paid him. It is expensive for a 3rd liner, but at the same time if he went to FA some bad GM would have paid him 1.25 million more during the silly season. I worry about 6 years, and expect it will be overpaid the last couple of years, but you have to take those risks to drive the AAV down.

You're coming to roost because I was off by 750k?

lol the shame! How could I!

Really happy with the 5.25.

750K, a few million, what's the difference, eh? you were yacking about $6M for a long
time, so time to take your medicine. it's all in good fun of course. danny boy brings the
self-deprecation as good as anyone, right @DKH ? my man.

Lol i was not the only person saying he could get and was worth 6m. Incidentally i clearly posted that 5.750 seemed like a number that made sense. So how close am I now?

5.25m is a fantastic deal for the team, and im super happy he got it. But y'all need to relax on the hate here. It's unbecoming. Again I'm not sweating that this was the gap. It's a GOOD thing.

he was a great player before the ankles went, basically the pmd the bruins longed for and settled with kaberle. also the subject of 50000 trade proposals
Have you ever seen those legs? No wonder his ankles went.

Anyway another great signing by DS, I like our GM. The guys are so clearly bought in and believing in Cassidy and Managements vision for this team.

It’s great to see after seeing teams give up on their coach like Montreal last night.

Coyle is already a core player for Boston. He and Krug
are the only two late 20's players with key roles.

Comes to playing the playoffs against physical teams, you need a guy like this. Glad he's gonna be here for a lot longer!

Coyle has 11 points in his last 12 games and the Bruins are on an 8 game winning streak with him as the 2c through most of it.

this new line is interesting. we've seen that coyle and heinen play well together. marchand is
a totally different animal on that left side. longterm with bjork over there, pretty solid 3rd line.
pretty solid indeed. just need that elusive 2RW.

I wonder how Minnesota fans are regarding Donato right now? Because I make this same damn trade 10 out of 10 times at this rate.

Coyle's been a terrific addition to this team

Is Coyle starting to pass Krejci on the depth chart?

Last night against Colorado, Coyle played almost 2 full minutes more than DK46. He played more at ES and more on the PP.
And Ritchie played instead of Backes and DeBrusk played more than Marchand and Pasta, and Carlo played more than Chara. One piss poor game on top of a stretch of several games of 20 minute efforts,I'd say it's just trying to play who's performing best in that game.

I don’t know, Cassidy can’t keep the top two lines together for more than ten minutes. That said, the Bruins are lucky to have them both with Bergeron’s health questionable. Krejci is still the best when it comes to zone entries.

That's what I thought too, but Krejci has gone from 17:41 last year to 17:17 this year, while Coyle has gone from 15:59 last year to 16:49 this year.

Personally I thought he passed him in last year playoffs. I thought it was clear that Cassidy would always go with the Bergeron, Coyle, or Kuraly lines against the other teams best players before he would send out the Krejci line.

Probably directly related to the absence of Bergeron. I like Coyle at both ends of the ice,but not sure he could sustain a PPG pace even with more minutes. The bigger issue is this team, which is not playing more than 30 minutes a night.

Not the best couple weeks for Bruins fans but Coyle continues to impress me. Love his game. The charges against him in Minny was his inconsistency but I haven't seen it as he seems to have bought in and is bringing it every game. Great trade, great deal. Not going to blind you with flash but his puck possession is so needed in that middle six.

I have to say I was very surprised to see him #2 in the shoot out lineup for us last night. I know he's been very close to scoring lately but he's not known for his hands. I'm not saying it wasn't worth a shot but I was very surprised to see him out there so soon.

Needs to stay at 3C... He is a mismatch for most 3rd line C
