Make my day.
I cant believe they didnt put Bishop against the Calgary. Lets put him on your face and help the management. Poor decision. :shakehead

If they played him and

A) he sucks the flames win big (good) but Bishop loses value (bad)

B) he plays great (good 9and the flames lose (bad), the flames might decide not to be buyers as their playoff hold its too tenuous.

C) he plays OK, not great, it makes no difference to his value.

D) gets injured, bad.

The best outcome for TB is a high scoring game, 6-5 OT. Flames get 2 points to help with the playoff push but hate their goaltending.

Bishop sitting doesn't hurt his value. Calgary and other teams would have scouted his recent hot streak.

If Tampa would have won, they'd be close to a playoff spot. Shouldn't be playing games like that.

Any idea what contract Bishop is looking for?

Have a look around the league at comparables! I'm guessing a team with a legitimate chance at the cup, if you give him at least 6 years, with a NMC/NTC, and you might just get him for $6-7 million, if the stars align. But of course I'm just purely speculating.

I also think that Lightning fans are going to be severely disappointed with the return, if they actually think there's a chance he may return a Trouba type player. I'd think more like a 1st + a prospect, better prospect/lower 1st or higher 1st/lesser prospect. I know he's been one of the very best, but he's a 31 year old, UFA and the Lightning aren't exactly in a position of leverage, with the ED.

Our expectations have been tempered at this point. A 1st + good prospect sounds about right

Blues won't jettison Jake Allen, but they should. Bishop makes them a sound playoff contender. Jake Allen has never, in any level of his career, found success in the playoffs. He tends to fold under that manner of pressure which has left me scratching my head why they would sign him to a 4m/year contract instead of riding it out with him and Elliott first to see what they have in him. Blues do have other needs that should be addressed first (Top 4 Center and LHD).

My dark horse pick for where Bishop is going would be the Kings.

Agree with you on Allen. He stunk in the final two games against Minnesota in the 2015 playoffs, he was the Wild's best player. It was a joke. He was one of the Sharks best players in game 5 of the WCF last year too.

That said, I don't see where Bishop is going unless it's St Louis or Calgary. Unless he goes somewhere and is used as a backup to give a team's starter some rest down the stretch before the playoffs start. Dallas is out of it, no way he's going there, though they would have made sense.

The Kings seem to be getting Quick back real soon. They waived Zatkoff and he cleared, but remains on the roster since Quick isn't ready to go just yet. Sounds like soon though.

We can't afford to sign him, to what he'll probably be asking for, without leaving huge holes in the rest of the team and we're not close enough to true contention for it to worth it to give assets for a true rental. I think that ship has sailed.

If Tampa won't sign him, can't or feel Vasilevsky (spelling?) is the future they should take what they can get.

As for who would be interested, most teams that need a goalie aren't playoff teams so would they be willing to do a sign and trade to make Bishop their goalie for 5/6 years?

Calgary and St.Louis goalie situations would make me shakey if I was their GM. Los Angeles as a rental? Trade price might be a tad more than Miller from Vancouver...Islanders for a sign and trade?

This is a shot in the dark but Philly for a sign and trade? Their goalie situation after this year is a **** show so far.

That might be true for Calgary as a team, Bishops true value is higher however and it would require more than that to entertain trading him.

I think he likely will bring more than that, but it's pretty tough to gauge the deadline value. There's not many comparables, other than Miller.

I think Bishop is going to be surprised at how low his contract offers are about to be, especially term.

There are only a handful of teams that don't have a goalie signed to be their #1 next year. And of those teams, a few have been burned already with goalies having down years.

If you have a good team, it's easier to find a good goalie to play behind them. No need to pay big money for a goalie.

Hell...look at Bishop himself:

.911 this year
.926 last year
.916 2 years ago
.924 3 years ago

2 years above average/great, 2 year below average/bad when you look at starters numbers.

I think he ends up only getting 3 years at around 6 million.

He'd be a good fit on Calgary. Would solve their goalie woes for sure. A 2017 1st + a roster defenseman (Not Gio, Brodie or Hamilton) to Tampa for Bishop. Add in Elliott to Tampa as well with a mid level pick going back to Calgary from Tampa.

So the deal would be:

Tampa: Elliott, roster d (Not Gio, Brodie or Hamilton), 2017 1st
Calgary: bishop, 2017 2nd

You're out to lunch. He doesn't return a 1st+ a good prospect. There aren't that many teams that are both a) looking for a goaltender, and b) looking for a rental. Unless this becomes a sign and trade, his value will be probably a 1st with conditions (as in turns into 2018 1st if the team doesn't make the playoffs).

In what world is .916 bad?

I would kill to get .916 goaltending.

"You're out to lunch". How old are you? There is very little difference between what I said and you said, except I don't believe he's dealt if he doesn't return what he is worth.
