In review of these games, I feel like the things that need the most improvement are shots on net and being high quality (not at the goalie). It felt like so many high dandy chances were spoiled by missing the net.

I did have the sense that the Jackets missed too many nets. But I haven't reviewed everything I don't know if it was an unusual number of misses.

One thing that happens in the playoffs is that the shot blocking is so damn good. Shooters are pretty focused on just getting it around the shot blocker and often that means putting it a foot wide of the net.

The other thing was the transition game. When we got it deep and forechecked we did well. Fast breaks created some chances. But often we'd be hemmed in because of breakout issues and then just dump and change. We need a way to get out of our zone and into theirs.

I agree, the Jackets seemed fine producing offense once they got going in the offensive zone. They struggled in the games where they couldn't gain the zone or couldn't get on the forecheck quickly enough. I talk about the team needing "playmakers" but even a transition specialist would help a lot. A lot of playmakers happen to be great at transition, like Panarin, but then there's also transition players like Marcus Johansson who aren't great playmakers, and we might benefit a lot from a low-cost player like that.
