It's just lazy journalism. RDS aren't the only one. Basically a lazy CBC journalist made his research on cap geek forgetting about the lock-out and correlating it with the season Pacioretty was injuried by Chara... and got like 500$ for this piece of crap. Anybody on HF would write a better article because we actually care about hockey.

it's terrible job though, I can't go into work and **** around and half ass it so why should this guy? There are prob hundreds of people who would love to write sports for the cbc but can't because they don't have the right educational requirements. Why settle for this sub par hack who won't even put the time in to do some research.

It's undeniable already that CBC hates the habs and this just reinforces that truth.

It makes us being better than toronto every year that much sweeter. Come playoff time we get to watch desperate pathetic attempts of the CBC panel on why Montreal is lucky/not as good as they are/etc.

It's not even a surprise anymore

As for the Sedins not producing in the playoffs. Uh...

2013: 3 points in 4 games for both of them
2012: 5 points in 5 games for Henrik, 2 in 2 for Daniel (he was recovering from a concussion that season)

While their new contracts look bad if they maintain their meager, Tortorella infused, production last year. They haven't had any problems previously. Sure, they could do better in the playoffs, but they're still producing.

**** it, I'll defend Phaneuf. Yes, he struggled this season. What do you expect from a guy paired with the offensive blackhole that is Gunnarsson? The year prior he put up 28 points in 48 games and 44 in 82. For a defenseman, those are good numbers. 7M was steep once upon a time, but as more defensemen bigger get dollars. It won't look that bad for the Leafs.

CBC... go home, you are drunk.

The Sedins have declined every season 4 years in a row. The problem is not Tortorella, the problem is they are in their mid 30s in decline.

I was about to mention this poll, but you beat me to it. It is interesting to see that Phaneuf is considered one of the worst contracts in Canada, given what CBC spewed out in this poorly written article.

As mentioned by a previous poster what I find most intriguing is the following quote on Max Pac: "when he plays a full season he usually produces." So, it really is not a bad contract after all.

I can't wait for the day the Canadian government pulls the plug on CBC. What a joke.

Over the next decade or two watch the countries that have a press that's corrupted by the government, the ones that only care about a dollar and ones that have a broadcaster like the CBC and see how they fare. I'd much rather have the CBC, warts and all, instead of what passes for the truth in places like the U.S.

Maybe you'll learn that not all jokes are funny.

What the heck are you talking about? CBC is funded by the government (poorly I might add). They're extremely biased against anything Habs related and push the Leafs down everyone's throats. That sounds like corruption to me.

lol, poorly? Any tax dollar that goes to the CBC is an overpayment, not a lack of funding.
