The big question for me is, if we keep him, can we send him to Providence if he slows down during the season.

If we can, then no big deal. If we can't because of an agreement with the Swedish League, then we really need to be careful about taking him.

Why? Not being snarky, but what's the difference between sending him to Providence or to Sweden? Other than easier access, maybe?

What do they owe exactly ?

Bruins sign David Pastrnak to entry-level deal. Today was deadline of sorts -- would've owed Swedish federation more if signed later.

Just guessing, but whatever was left owed to him on his contract there so the $ would be available to replace him maybe? Or is there a penalty for him signing an NHL contract while under contract over there in play too maybe? Either way, I'm glad they're going to give him a shot this year. Can't wait to see him when big boy camp starts.

I meant if we keep him beyond the 9 game tryout and into the season. Say around game 20 his play takes a dive and we need to send him elsewhere.

I suppose we could loan him to his Swedish team, but my guess, given that he's over here and we are already burning an ECL, is that we would want to train him in Providence and have in available in case of injury.

OK, got it.

He'll be here for camp, so we'll see how it goes. As Chiarelli said, one step at a time.

Just curious, but are there any players past or present that people would be able to compare him to? I read Ondrej Palat as one, but I'm not too familiar with him either.

Excited, but mostly reading and seeing a few clips of him, hearing a few comparable players would be interesting for me.

Styles of game. Euro style is significantly different than North American style...including the ice surface they play on. IMO that would be the largest benefit.

Bergeron went second round, so I struggle to see your point. The slight hype is based upon what Chiarelli has said

Let the kid attend camp and go from there. I doubt he'll make the cut but it'll be good to get him involved at an early stage

Great first post. :) I agree.

Welcome to the nut house !

The good news for Pastrnak is that he will have a full training camp with Sodertalje, up to 7 preseason games, and at least 3 regular season games before the Boston Bruins camp even kicks off. So we are definitely going to see him at his best.

IMO He will be fun to watch. Hopefully he remembers to bring more than his skates. ;)

From what little I saw of him ( Sunday at camp) he loves to be on the ice, has great hands and a big personality. Looks like lots of skill.

I'll second this, I always like to hear comparables when it comes to play style... Is it September yet?

His aggressiveness reminds me of Taylor Hall

Let's hope he's durable, he doesn't seem to have as much size as Hall. So far I've heard aggressiveness of hall, open ice skating and shot close to Seguin, and board work/shiftiness of Marchand, all while being a great playmaker/passer... Hard mot to be excited, hope he adds some pounds and trains hard the next few months.

Pastrnak reminds me with the skating, the moves, the right shot, the size, the hair (yes he had it at 18) of Rick Middleton. Middleton had what the truck moves and was electrifying.

From the limited clips I've seen of Nifty, I can see what you mean. Looks like both players had the dangles. Let's hope Pastrnak can put it all together, his tools are top notch.

I remember when Middleton came up we used to have these epic street hockey games and I must admit I was Rick Middleton- until the dinner bell rang then I was Lance Armstrong on that bad ass yellow sting ray

Pulling for the guy, or any other ELC, to seize their chance and grab that RW job next to Lucic-Krejci. We would be a much better team if Loui can stay with the Yeti and dominate opposin team bottom two lines.

And the core of this team is so strong that we can accept the growing pain of the situation. That rookie will gain in experience all year long and come the deadline, if that didn't pan out, then you reassess and get help.

It would suck to see another skilled player sent down after earning a spot just so Caron can play.

Krejci is going to get so much crap from his teammates.

The best was Pastrnak's quote in some hockey journal that went something like: "Krejci has been my hero from the time I was born." I definitely remember the "from the time I was born part."*

If he says that in an interview at training camp you can bet Krejci will catch some flack.

*This was from whatever hockey journal they had for free at Rusticcia during DC
