Deleted the rumors about Vitek as they’re coming from a fake CapitalsPR Twitter handle.

Why was my post deleted? All I did was ask who getting surgery when someone made a post about it.
And the reason was for speculation with no resource. I didn't speculate anything. I was questioning the guy that did.

Which is why I deleted your post. The original quoted post was deleted because it was a made up rumor and all subsequent responses to that post were deleted as well. No rules violation on your part, it’s just part of the cleanup process.


So everyone stops asking: a fake CapitalsPR account made up a rumor about Vitek having surgery and that he was out indefinitely. It was a post made to look like an official Capitals press release and looked exactly the same as the Mantha release. It found its way to Reddit and even NHL Network. There’s been no report from any official source so the post was deleted in violation of site rules.

Re: The puck-moving vs bruising defenseman. Our defense is basically the Maple Leafs right now, looks good, lot´s of fun to watch but come playoff they will get butchered, especially with Vanny/Sammy in net. When was the last time a team won the cup without big crease clearing guys guys in their own end?

Alzner is actually a free agent right now. With all the IR guys we could get him and try him out.

Alzner destroyed his groin and can't skate. His hands are destroyed and he can't hold a stick. I love Karl Alzner but....If I had to take back a former player right now, it would be Holtby

With the guys going down left and right, i do expect Lavi to make some adjustments to ice times. First liners played 25minutes today, that's quite a chunk for a 1 line only. They are extremely hot right now, but in the long run it can bite you. This season is extra long and demanding if you add the olympics. Maybe Ov could sit the 2nd PP and try somebody else there for a change.

I think Laviolette is using common sense making the choices that he is making. His goals and your goals are different. Fehervary has carried a full share all season. Laviolette has said that he sheltered McMichael with Sheary and Oshie but his time to be a rookie is over. He played more even strenth mins than half the forwards in the last game. Leason and AJF were not a surprise.

They have a road back to back coming and minutes will be used differently. I would think you would see more of a spread. Having 4 centers will help.

I would hope that before they even think about trading away Sammy or VV for a MAF or some other oldie goalie, that they try bringing in a goalie specialist or whisperer to work with the two kids. Hell, it could be a special role like Peca last year, or replace Scott Murray, or bring in Olie the Goalie, something. The kids have promise, especially Sammy. Maybe you need to do something else, because there isn't much improvement.

Then go and get an outside goalie by the trade deadline if all else fails.

I dont think there is any threat of the Caps making a sudden goaltending move. I believe Kolzig still works for the team and IIRC was working with the Hershey goalies on a part time basis. I am sure he is an option but I could almost guarantee that Murray isn't going to want Kolzig sending a different message to the goalies that what he is and won't want the competition. I dont know this to be the case but Kolzig is a Dave Pryor desciple. I wonder if the two styles conflict. Now, canning Murray in favor of Kolzig could happen, but things are going to need to get a lot worse before people start getting fired.

That was my first thought when VV got hurt. Maybe it's the best thing that could happen to Sammy. No competition for a while, allowing him to maybe (hopefully?) find a rhythm and settle in.

Jimi must be a little bummed, not that it was unexpected but no matter the situation going from the NHL to Jrs has to suck, emotionally. But it's going to be much better for his long term development.

So if things fall a certain way, we could end up with CMM, Leason, Protas, Axel and Fever all in one game. Ovi and Kuzy will play 35 mins each.
