Seton Hall hasn't been to the Final Four in 30 years, and haven't had the top record in the Big East since 1993.

The Red Bulls are still the MetroStars.

We should keep in perspective that relative to the success of most of our area's teams at all levels, the Devils of 1995-2003 are an exception, not the rule.

It just sucks that it happened so early in the history of our franchise whereas now we can't handle a basement dweller.

i know there was always the threat of the team moving back during the middle 90s and a little after but i do wonder if we had that type of success now instead of then? with social media new billionaire owners would nj be viewed differently? would free agents want to come here? play exciting hockey? the 99/01 teams were extremely exciting

I beat this drum constantly.

We need to win a title in the social media era for us to truly be a sexier team.

I love me those 12 game winning streaks that amount to nothing but moral victory tour in a lost season.

Would you want to have a disaster every day at work. The players are people and even in a losing season they need to have something to give them some temporary emotional respite. Would you be able to invest your effort in such a demanding endeavor if you lost perputally?

Was there really a report that Hynes and Shero were meeting tonight behind closed doors? Or was this a joke of some kind?

@glenwo2 I believe I caught something about you mentioning this in the GDT a couple hours ago.

@NJDevs26 (I think) may have mentioned it but there's no actual evidence that the two have communicated.

GRRRRRRRRR!!! I hate not knowing.

This "not knowing" thing reminds me too much of STATUS QUO (Not the poster but Lou's Modus Operandi)

Watch Cory figure his **** out after we're buried and then get dumped on for ruining our draft position.

You know that's going to happen. :baghead:

I said it last night but watch Cory channel his pre-2016 form and go on like a 10 game winning streak so we can draft 10th or 11th instead of in the top 5.

I would blame management for playing a hot goalie in a lost season then. Don’t try and give me that crap about a team building character through moral wins. Team had that last year and look where it got them this year.

Majority of them are millionaires access to a lifestyle we will never know. Cry me a river if they can’t handle losing (and being the direct reason for that too). If your the reason it’s a disaster at work everyday well then you need to find a new job.

They didn't have 'moral victories' last year, they had actual victories, that got them into the playoffs. If you want to make a comparison about useless moral victories go to 2010-2011...but honestly I think even that helped them in 2011-12. I don't think they would have ever made the run they did the next year if they didn't get out of the cycle of hell that previous season.

Obviously there isn't always carryover but that doesn't mean you don't play it out each individual season, no matter the situation. Players have to be playing for jobs and contracts if nothing else. Teams have to constantly evaluate players and coaches. What's your solution to meaningless games then, forefit? Players and coaches aren't automatons that can block out all negativity from losing every single game.

And if you want Cory out of here, him getting hot is the fastest way to get that done, he'd at least MAYBE get some trade value back if he can find his game again.

So they aren’t people? No one is asking you to feel sorry for them but how about I go to your place of work every day and tell to everyone there every time you make a mistake or even slow down for a minute. And when you go to lunch I’ll tell you suck and when you come back I’ll tell your boss he should call the police because whatever he’s paying you to work there it’s just theft. And all that was being discussed was my thought that a winning streak even in a bad season had some value. There wasn’t a discussion of players needing their hand held.

“Goaltending is a normal job, sure. How would you like it in your job if every time you made a small mistake, a red light went on over your desk and 15,000 people stood up and yelled at you?”

no one is born being a goalie. its a choice to play that position and a choice to play hockey. i'm sure the good outweighs the bad otherwise no one would do it.
