Is there a published link summarizing this tyranny?

Arizona has 25 M on LTIR that they traded for to get picks.

Lost Wages currently has 23M on the LTIR and the IR>LTIR and are gearing up for the trade deadline.

Nothing to see here:

Not just pics.
They traded for insured contracts.
These are paid by the insurance companies but the cap hit is used to calculate how much of the cap the team has used.
In other words Arizona didn't spend that much money.

So between the league hand out and the insurance payments Arizona looks cap compliant and with marginal attendance not losing that much money. Essentially they get 41 million in insurance and league handouts.
They have a 45 million roster but a 81 million cap hit.

No they don’t. They have no one LTIR. Every player they’ve acquired they’ve placed on IR.
Right, Shea Weber who hasn't played in 3 years says Hi! from the IR.

Under league rules IR can be backdated to LTIR.

These are simply IR place holders for IR>LTIR conversion when they need actual cap space.

Makes it look worse not better.

It feels like you are missing some important corner pieces to this puzzle

Mittelstadt would be a mind boggling acquisition and would get abused by Tochett. They should be looking for a C to play with Mikheyev and Suter that won’t get scored on in tough minutes and is good at pking, from somewhere that will eat Kuzmenko’s cap.

I feel we need a playoff type of player in the forward core.

Needs size.
Needs grit.
Needs to be clutch.

Examples:

Chandler Stephenson.
Nick Paul.
Joe Pavelski.
Claude Giroux.
Boon Jenner (2 of the 3)
Tom Wilson. (2 of the 3)
Crosby (A dream)
Malkin (A dream)

Now the only one of that list that may shake loose is Giroux. Would def be a positive addition to the front end.

Giroux is 5’11” and takes like 10 penalties per year lol.

You've gotta update your priors on Mittelstadt from 2019 man.

He's become quite a good player.

NHL to 'scrutinize' trades to ensure injured players aren't stashed until playoffs

And yes the NHL has been incredibly up and down with enforcing the cap. Being able to trade LTIRetired contracts is the biggest though. Whether it’s to make the cap floor or to increase the LTIR pool like Tampa trading for Seabrook or Vegas trading for Weber. It’s cap circumvention but with more steps and should not be allowed.

Already talked about this yesterday but here's my summary:

Myers:
-not getting him for 1-2m
-veteran rhd gets 3-4m on a new deal
-wants to re-sign in Vancouver
-outpricing himself in Vancouver

Zadorov:
-worked hard to get him
-no contract talks
-might start talks after the All-Star break
-would be shocked if the Canucks don't make a hard long run to re-sign him
-look for term; some think he asked for 6 or 7 years from Calgary

i thought the rumor turned out to be false

Why not? He'd only cost money and he could be a boost to our offense. I've hated Perry his entire career, but would love to have him as a depth option in our forward lines.

Like Rick Tocchet, there are certain non-negotiables for me. Corey Perry is one of the non-negotiables. I hate the dude, I think he's a loser, and I'm extremely skeptical of his situation given the lack of transparency over what happened in Chicago.

He’s being deployed in offensive situations, doesn’t kill penalties, and sucks at faceoffs. I’m not saying he’s a bad player, I’m saying he’s not a fit.

Did you ever watch the Pens/Flyers series?

In the playoffs he is a beast.
He’s a small skill player. You said we needed size and grit and even pointed out where certain players on your list didn’t have one of those attributes. I just thought it was odd that Giroux was your top choice given those qualifiers.

Yup. Pretty sure most Sabres fans say he’s been their best or 2nd best forward this year.

It’s Cozens who’s struggled

He's a vastly improved two-way player. Slight OZ start tilt, because the Sabres use their 4th line for DZ starts. Yeah, he's not great at faceoffs. Neither is Jack Hughes or Elias Pettersson. It's not a huge deal.

Yep. He's been one of the few Sabres players performing above expectations this season. He would be a legit 2C and is prime-age.
