Boudreau didn't say the Canucks were 'mentally fragile', he said they were 'mentally weak'. There's a huge difference.Funny after he called then team mentally fragile, I think the pressure is getting to Bruce too. It’s a contract year for him and missing the playoffs is considered a failure for him so I bet he's overthinking things. Like how do you go from trusting Burroughs as a top 4 dman to healthy scratching him the next night?
And how do you randomly pick out Garland as the guy to scratch just 4 games into the season? One of your best 5v5 producers last year.
Edit: and also splitting up Kuzmenko-Pettersson really weird. If it was really just about play, then he should've rode Pettersson-Kuzmenko as a true 1st line today with the Horvat line given 2nd line 5v5 minutes and the sleepwalking Miller line given typical 3rd line 5v5 usage. Instead he sits Garland, and splits up Kuz-EP and continues to play Miller big minutes despite his bozo play.
Really bizarre.
Saying that your leaders are 'mentally weak' is about as damaging an admission from any coach, particularly a guy like Boudreau who's on an expiring contract. That's a bullet aimed directly at management imo.
Unless this team pulls out of this freefall in a hurry, I fear the Canucks might be firing their second coach inside of a year. But have no fear. Mike Yeo, who's been fired in Minny, St. Louis and Philly is there to take the rains and pilot another lost season home. He's become a legendary for coaching teams in a spiraling freefall.
