What a soft as butter D. Nobody pays the price coming over the blueline or around the Canucks net and that's a huge problem. I guess having a rookie and two spare parts at best in your bottom 3 doesn't help.

I would be playing the hell out of all the kids, including Baertschi and what should be a re-called Gaunce and maybe even Pedan. If Horvat wasn't going through a sophomore slump and Vrbata was doing his job, Baertschi would have had a half dozen or so more points right now and people wouldn't be whining about him. In fact, Vrbata has brought down two lines already and they're not even at the quarter point.

And the coach continues to dump in his pants as far as some of the player selection goes. Insisting on Edler monopolizing 1st PP time and having a young player they acquired specifically for his offense in Baertschi getting exactly ZERO today, is absolutely atrocious. The stark contrast between what he gifted Vey, who clearly isn't in the same class as Baertschi skill wise, is almost grounds for dismissal. Biega not even getting a sniff is a joke too.

WD will be back in the AHL next year at this rate.

Hard earned loss by the Canucks. Here's to 0 points on a 7 game road trip, losing against teams we should be beating.

By the end of this road trip, Anaheim will probably be ahead of us in the standings.

No one to blame but the players. Not the coach, not Benning, but a lack of urgency from anyone on the team. Those lost 2 points will cost us big time in April.

Not sure how one can come to the conclusion this has nothing to do with coaching. Willies finger prints are all over this team. Both good and bad, though I'm afraid I see more of the bad decisions. I don't think Willie manages his roster particularly well.

We deserved to win that game but a lack of finish and an absolute tire fire of a final shift sealed our fate.

I know it's early but I'm shocked at how bad Sutter is offensively. He has no business being anywhere near scoring situations. Not seeing much more than a neutral zone specialist with PK utility.

NJ is playing well right now. We'll need another good effort tomorrow to have a chance, however our lack of finish + Schneids has the makings of another ugly loss.

Virtanen has been much better since he officially "made" the team. 2 good chances today. Hope his confidence can grow here.

Bravo the Ryan Miller...telling like it is....bad turnover by the Sedins who lollygagged on the backcheck and then Ennis goes one on three and gains the line.....and finally the coach, who had the wrong guys out on the ice with under 20 seconds left in the first place....Miller's right...maybe having a game like this blow up in their face will change the mindset in third period....somebody had to say something.

I don't have an issue with what he said. He's a veteran and based on his past success has earned the right to be lightly critical. Hutton has to get out of the way there.

I think it's fair to talk to Hutton and the guys about it after the game, but don't criticize them to the media to make you look better.

This. I wonder how people would react if a player just called out Miller for some of his mistakes.

Daniel made the turnover, Henrik was the first guy back and forced the puck to the corner. They are different people.

Absolutely. It's ridiculous to run your mouth in the media. It's not like anybody threw him under a bus after game 6 and said "hey, we scored 4 goals, you'd expect to win and not have your goalie let in 5"

We're missing the point here....obviously Miller has been simmering about the blown leads and bad third periods for awhile now and sucked it up.....but obviously he wanted this win badly against his old team and another third period brain-cramp was more than he could take imo....I for one am glad he showed some leadership....now if only the coach would get the message.

Was he simmering when he let in that floater vs Dallas? Or that game winner from Fehr?

God Tyler Ennis embarrassed us on that last goal.

He should have been gassed after defending on that shift.

He stick handles down and wins a board battle against 2 bigger players. and sets up the winning goal.

He might not be familiar with our media. They will intentionally ask questions where the answer is controversial solely to stir up drama.

That being said, I don't approve of that sort of stuff. You win as a team, and you lose as a team. Keep that **** in the dressing room.

Miller is used to that from the Buffalo Media. They had an ax to grind and were riding him out of town until he got traded.

He's just a very...earnest person and he hates to lose. He puts a lot of himself into the game.

He made similar comments when he was with the Sabres. He's not trying to be a jerk, but he doesn't come off very well at times. He needs like a 15 minute buffer period after a loss so he doesn't say dumb things.

I'm not sure I'd call pinning the blame on others leadership. If he wants to get on guys for the poor thirds, then he can have at 'er, but that should stay in the room.

As I said earlier though, he seems like he just gets a little too honest sometimes, and is just trying to explain what happened and not intentionally calling guys out, but he should keep it in check a little better if it's going to reflect poorly on his teammates.

The Canucks' luck in winning all those one goal games last year sure has taken a turn. So far they've lost 8 times by 1 goal (4 regulation and 4 OT). All of last season they only lost 9 times by a goal (4 regulation and 5 OT/SO).

Henrik also chased into that corner where Bartkowski already was.

If you're going to leave the slot to double-team a player you better not lose the battle and let the player in the corner make a pass outwards.
