It could very well put the Oilers “over the top.” You make this deal every time when you have the two superstars they have, in the middle of their cup window.I would happily give two of the 2024 1st and Broberg/Holloway/Bourgault for Pesce. Maybe a bit more on top.
When it comes to Pesce, assuming the Canes want a young Dman as a main piece in the return, the Oilers and Wings are the only two who would likely be prepared to part with a Broberg or a Wallinder. Other teams either don’t have these types of prospects, or they’re not trading them. Oilers do it cause it’s their window, and Detroit likely does it because they have two others who will be around for the next decade, and Pesce really allows them to mature quicker.
That’s why it’s likely one of these two teams get him. Assuming the Canes move him.
