Humour is not with this one I see
Doh. My bad sir. With some of the hot takes around here, its not SO fsr fetched that someone believes that to be true.

Agree with ES scoring but you should look his shooting map on PP. This year he have played on front of the net so his shooting percentage is definitely high. It gives you better context about his PP scoring. He leads the league in empty net goals, and he has a career best SH% at ES (unsustainable) and on the PP.
Grand total of 3 goals, 6 points in 12 games back in October.Didnt he start off slow too?
Ah, if he's playing in front of the net that makes a bit more sense. Thanks. His PP SH% isn't that inflated anyway (and it was abnormally low last year so makes sense that it would swing the other way a bit this year). It's mostly his ES that raises flags.Agree with ES scoring but you should look his shooting map on PP. This year he have played on front of the net so his shooting percentage is definitely high. He's doing great especially considering the slow start due to depression. 50 goals is not out of the question although I would place my bet on 40-45.
A lot of that is that his most common wings this season are 1: a pass first... Second... And third guy in Turbo and 2: a power winger that is beyond snake bit this season in Nino. His assists have been ticking up since they swapped out Nino for Svech on that line.Admittedly I haven't watched Canes a lot, but I've seen a lot of highlights and often the goals are very high quality chances. They have D-men who can move the puck and besides Aho, there's guys like Svechnikov and Teräväinen.
He has only 23 assists this far into the season, so I think it's partly luck and variance he has happened to be the finnishing player so often. In any case a great season he's having again and shouldn't surprise anyone anymore.
Depression? What are you talking about, he's Finnish. Being depressed is considered normal for a Finn. He's doing great especially considering the slow start due to depression. 50 goals is not out of the question although I would place my bet on 40-45.
Not that they count any less, but doesn't he also have like 6 ENG?
Not to say this isn’t a valid point, because it is, but the reason Aho is on the ice for all those ENGs is because of his two-way game.
Same thing on the penalty kill. I don’t know if the stats still hold up, but at midseason Aho and TT were generating as many scoring chances short handed as the opposing PP units. Which is insane. But you watch them on the PK and it makes sense... they constantly steal the puck and go scooting off for an odd man rush. Thus, he gets empty-net shifts for the same reason. Make one mistake with the puck and you’re going to watch Aho scoot in, steal it off somebody, and take it all the way to the other end.
Maybe that came across wrong, was never intended to be a slight towards Aho. There's reasons he's on the ice late in games protecting leads and they're all positive.
Not a slight, but I do think there’s validity to him not being able to sustain this many ENGs and a very high shooting %. It wouldn’t surprise me if he went through a scoring slump in March.
The shots are falling for him right now, the opposite of the first weeks this season when he was snakebitten. In the long run he’ll be a consistent 30-goal guy with strong playmaking skills and 2-way game, one of the league’s more complete 1Cs. Like a smaller, more squirrely version of Kopitar.
