Sour grapes and I'm not talking about Don Cherry.
I'm guessing those callers likely were Canadians that chose to cheer against their own country today for whatever reason.
Not only are they dealing with a loss, but also the shutout must be a double whammy bitter pill to swallow as it gave them nothing to celebrate.
Meanwhile from coast to coast those cheering on Canada must be proud and rejoicing while looking forward to the gold medal match ahead. What reason would they have for complaining about a shutout victory?
****in jeff o'neill calls out kessel saying he doesnt show up for big games. Uhh. What game were you watching? He was pretty much the only American that showed up to play today. The hate this guy gets is just unbelievable.
Can't believe I'm saying this... but Damien Cox is schooling this moron. Minutes after McCown says the play was pretty even, he agrees with Damien that Canada controlled the play 'decisively'. "I'd agree with that, Damien". What a liar. Toronto sports radio is awful.
Canada dominated the US pretty good today, on the shot clock, the face-off dot and time of possession and scoring chances.
Bob McCown is American is he not, so he would be on the losing end of today's game.
Yeah but Price isn't one of those. I was just bringing up a time when he was playing internationally and rose to the occasion and didn't crack, thats all.
Team Canada shutting out the Americans in this game on the road to gold had to be the best outcome anyone could have hoped for.
If its 1-0 or 5-0 nothing matters little in the big picture.
If anyone asked me before the game would I take a shutout win, I would have said Yes without hesitation and then thank you.
This edition of Team Canada might not be flashy, but it is definitely the most dominant defensive team that our country has ever iced in an international tournament.
why do you care who other people are cheering for?
Obviously Team Canada is much better than our Leafs, but it struck me how much Canada continued to pressure even late in the third period. There's a lesson in there someone for our buds.
for sure. we only gave up 3 goals. period. that says a lot.
i saw this - this was cute

Well wouldn't it make sense to apply more pressure if it were a one goal game? They had no insurance goal so it's not like they could afford the US putting in any.

But Phil Kessel doesn't care guys, hes just in it for the money.
If you watch a lot of Leaf games you would know that laying back is a regular occurrence, one goal two (or more). The point is to keep applying the pressure that got you the lead.
Is he on the radio or something? Why would anyone want to listen to Jeff O'Neill?****in jeff o'neill calls out kessel saying he doesnt show up for big games. Uhh. What game were you watching? Indeed. This is the defensive group I have ever watched.
