No question about it, Scott is the higher risk goalie to run with if you’re hunter. Dipietro is the consensus better prospect for a longer period of time and for that reason if team canada loses and dipietro is partly to blame, Hunter will take much less backlash should the same happen but with Scott.
I’m not arguing whether Scott is better than dipietro... he very well could be, and very well could not be. Only time will tell.
Point is, if your the coach, in a short tourney... you go with the safe bet rather than the risky. At least to start. Hunter made his choice before Scott got his second start... for that reason he is either going for the safe bet or the goalie that has performed better during his eye test, be it practise or the few games or any junior games he has watched.
I don’t blame him for it.
Scott would have to have been flawless and sensational in the few starts for hunter to have chosen otherwise.
off topic question...Was Woll a surprise pick over Oettinger last year, or were they 59/59? Oettinger was a much higher draft pick.
