Don't even need the recordings. I'd take a current day, senile Bob Cole over a lucid Paul Romanuk any day. They both make about the same mistakes, but at least Cole has an entertaining voice and has the excuse of being in his mid-80s.

He genuinely seems like a nice guy with a passion for the game, but man, I cannot stand his voice as a play by play guy. The frequency of errors in his calls really was embarrassing as well.

I wish him luck elsewhere but I don't think too many leafs fans will miss him.

I liked the Romanuk hiring because of nostalgia from his TSN days. He's decent, but he got more irritating the more you listened to him. Which was a lot for Leaf fans.

I never had a problem with Romanuk, but I am certainly not going to be upset that he's gone.

I will be upset if they put Hughson in there.
