Crosby stops at ~1600 ish.

He'll definitely get more than 1600. He's 31 right now and can still put up over a PPG.

Assuming he plays till ~40 (not that rare...even a guy like Marleau will be playing adequately till 40), he would only need to play at a 50 point pace to get to 1600.

I think he gets around 1750-1800 as long as he's relatively healthy (70+ games per season).

Age 31-85 points (1201)
Age 32- 80 points (1281)
Age 33 80 points (1361)
Age 34- 75 points(1436)
Age 35- 40 points (1486) injury
Age 36-70 points (1556)
Age 37- 30points (1586) injury
Age 38- 55 points (1641)

I think he will retire around 38 same as Gretzky before he declines to much. Added some injury time in there just cause. Pretty conservative numbers. He could be ppg for the rest of his career who knows. You know dam well he’s going to be prepared and in shape. The strength of his game is his down low play using his power and edges and those are not going anywhere. But no 2000 points is out of the question. I’m guessing 1500 low end 1800 high end

But all players lose their goal scoring ability as they age.

Look at Gretzky who once scored 92 goals.

In his final years, even when he was still creative, it was painful to watch as far as goal scoring. I remember for a while it always seemed like there was a Gretzky goal drought (0g in his last 11 games, etc).

Goal scoring and skating legs. Age destroys them all sadly.

Joe Thornton had 82 points as a 36 year old, so I don't see why Crosby can't do the same.

Considering that Sakic put up 100 points at 37, I’m pretty sure Crosby can adapt as well as Sakic when he’s getting older. Those players can rely on their hockey IQ to put up a good amounts of points despite being older. Plus, Don’t forget that Crosby is a workhorse, he’ll always gonna be in shape come training camps no matter how old he’ll be. That guy breathes and lives hockey, wouldn’t be surprise to see him as a 80-90 points player in his late 30’s.

To answer the OP’s question, I don’t think he has any chance to reach 2000 points due to his injuries in the past, but if you take away the injuries, he would probably be sitting at ~1300 points by now. From that perspective, that would make the 2000 points milestone more achievable.
