I'm feeling for him tbh. He's playing awesome and is a kid. Internet just filled with all these jokes about his Mom and Perry.. brutal. Note: Not saying the rumour is true or not but seeing all those tweets and such has to be upsetting.

Just for an update on how special of a season we are seeing, here are some crazy stats.

•Bedard is on pace for 60 even strength points. That would be the most by an 18 year old since 1981-82 (42 seasons). Expand that to U20 seasons, and only McDavid in his second year has more in that span.

•Bedard is on pace for 37 even strength goals. That would tie him with Gretzky for the most ever by a U20 player. That would insanely mean Bedard would have one more year to try and break it again.

•In his first year in the league, he currently leads the league in 5v5 goals, and is tied for the league lead in 5v5 primary points. Expect him to battle it out for the goals lead throughout the season, but he definitely doesn’t have the teammates to keep pace in the second stat.

•Bedard is on pace for 41 goals. That would put him 3rd all time amongst 18 year olds. Expand that to U20 seasons, and that’s the 10th best season all time, meaning he’d have another year to put his name on that list again.

The craziest part about that last stat is he’s doing it with a Chicago powerplay that’s operating at 10% currently. You’d have to go back 23 years to find a team with a worse percentage over an 82 game season.

It's crazy how he's doing this with such little help and with a team that almost never has the puck with any kind of sustained possession or pressure. I try catching Blackhawks games to see him play but they're almost unwatchable with how bad the team is. He's not really in a position to succeed right now...honestly it doesn't look like the team is even trying to win or has the mindset to try to win. Luckily he's barely 20 games into his career. Hopefully management figures out how to put some talent around him.

The Chicago Blackhawks have played 209 minutes of hockey since someone was able to score a goal without Bedard getting a point on it. This team is him. Honestly can’t think of a worse forward core in the league he could have joined. Can’t imagine what Chicago was thinking when they thought the best options to add to the team to insulate him was Hall and Perry.

Only good thing that could come out of this is the quality of prospect Chicago should be able to add in next year’s draft to help him. It may not be the best pick, but it’s tantalizing to imagine adding a pure sniper like Eiserman to Bedard’s wing and what it would open up for him.

I think the Black Hawks are trying they just have a lack of talent in their older players and their younger players are being asked to do too much.

I expect them to make much more progress next season.

Well they were tanking and they are also down 3 of their better veteran forwards from the start of the year in AA, Hall and Perry, which is a bit of bad luck. So kind of odd to use that as the examples in a discussion of how long it's been since someone else has scored as those options aren't even available anymore.

So basically all the league minimum guys have had to move up with a line's worth of "help" out. It would certainly be nice if someone like Lukas Reichel wasn't sh*t, but that's a mid 1st round 21 year old in his first full NHL season, so it's not like the most surprising thing. The other guys are about as bad performing as one would expect for who they are. And again, tank roster to start the year, so yeah.. not great.

I don’t think this is getting enough love either. He starts it with the intercept and spinorama pass right on the stick and then finishes it, and the goal is underrated.

That puck is nowhere near in his wheelhouse, it’s way out it front of him and still gets a ton on the shot from pretty far out, by basically just snapping his wrists, no body torque.

It’s hard to know how good and skilled that is for a casual hockey person.

This was my favorite goal of his in the games that I have seen, loved this play!

This brother is truly playing with plumbers.
I mean, his teammates suck, but this isn't actually a great representation of that. According to this he plays a vast majority of every single power play, meaning the only time other people are getting on the ice is when there's been a clear late in the PP or Bedard was on the ice when it was drawn. You could do this for every team that has a guy playing the full 2 minutes when available and it would look like this.

No other teams PP2 will look that bad. It’s still a power play.
